Trouble Never Sounded So Good With Milky Chance's 'Bad Things' Ft. Izzy Bizu

German group Milky Chance team up with Izzy Bizu to release new single ‘Bad Things' which is an exploration of music, with heartfelt lyrics and composition. lead singer Clemens Rehbein and drummer/producer Philipp Dausch have really shown their musical talent to its full potential, by combining analogue folk, with a 21st-century electronic production element. When asked where the inspiration for the track came from they said,
“The inspiration for ‘Bad Things' came from a feeling of finding yourself repeatedly stuck in the same kind of situation. It’s a tiring, going-around-in-circles-tragedy. In the end, it‘s always up to you to find the way out, but this song is a shout out to that person who always there whilst you work it out.”
The actual track has a very experimental style to it, with the introduction sounding like it has been recorded on a very low-grade microphone, to get the dirty sound to it, (this is becoming a rather popular production feature in experimental modern music), before the keyboard enters the mix playing a very simple four-bar sequence of chords, with a very "plain sound to it" which would generically be found on an old-school jazz electric keyboard. Then the harmonious vocals come in and as far as any musician listening would say they are perfect! Each note is in perfect harmony and timing, almost as if the pair are communicating through their minds.
It is clear both parties who have assisted with the track, Milky Chance and Izzy Bizu, have incredible musicianship and some sort of internal chemistry, to appear as if they thinking exactly the same thing. The harmonies and vocals are as tight as they could possibly be.
To sum up, the expression and meaning behind 'Bad Things' are breath-taking and the execution of it is next to none. I feel that this is not the last we'll hear of this collaboration, and they will have much success with this track and many more to come.
