Big Jest is not just a slick rapper from Croydon with a quarter of a million streams, but he also has a First Class degree in business management from Kingston University and a list of collaborations as long as my Christmas present wish list including Lady Leshurr, Ghetts, Scorcher, Benny Banks, Belly Squad, Sox, S.A.S, K-Trap and Yung Fume. Not bad for a young man of 22. Now Big Jest releases 'Finesser' alongside Jay Dako and it takes us straight back to carefree summer days with the sizzling, summery beat and blue-skied visuals set in the heart of London. With killer hooks, youthful clever wordplay (that you'll be repeating to your friends) and a catchy chorus you just can't go wrong. 

'Finesser' also has a lighter touch which is much needed at the beginning of a cold winter week where fun times and celebrations seems a long way off. Big Jest and Jay Dako inject a playfulness into a track which also has danceability and doesn't take itself too seriously. The music video portrays two talented young men with the world at their feet having fun in the sun whilst showing off their skills to the nation. And what skills; their flows are not just a trickle from your leaking tap, but a power shower of undiluted puns and rhymes. And the clean instrumentals and subtle beat allow room for the artists to breathe and do their thing. 

Big Jest is ultimately a rapper but he enjoys mixing it up and flits between grime, rap, dancehall, and afrobeats in order to create his own style. His last EP ‘Applying Pressure’ and mixtape, ‘Nightshift’, collectively generated over a quarter of a million streams and Big Jest has been noticed by DJ Charlie Sloth who featured him in his ‘Fire In The Streets’. One of his latest songs ‘Summer To Winter’ was championed on BBC 1Xtra by Sian Anderson.
