'I'm The Form In The Way' Is A Stylish, Streamlined Debut From Makemake

Introducing Makemake, the new solo project of producer Brendan Williams (GoGo Penguin, Dutch Uncles, Kiran Leonard) with his debut single 'I'm The Form In The Way' released through his own label Low Four Records. The single features Everything Everything's Michael Spearman on drums, Robin Richards of Dutch Uncles on bass and long-term collaborator Amalie Briden on vocals and it's an intensely creative piece of work to listen to and to look at. It's a streamlined electronic composition with 80s synths and a bouncy and spacious intro which juxtaposes the rigid architecture shown in the visuals directed by James Welch. The music video has many interpretations (I get stuck in a mundane 9-5 life and wanting to feel free) and is slick and stylish.
Speaking about the forthcoming album Williams explains, "I've been making this record between the cracks whilst producing other bands over the last few years. The people I was recording began to influence my own music as we shared ideas, so I guess it was natural that some of them would become collaborators. The individual tracks started out purely as an escape, I wasn't making them for anyone apart from me. There have been no constraints really, I've not had to think about budgets or deadlines."
'I'm The Form In The Way' is an exciting, daring and expansive debut.
