Then listen to the sounds of Toronto-based band Illyin Pipes whose music is a combination of downtempo, futuristic synth-pop with soothing vocals. Illyin Pipes have released their new single and music video ‘Waking Up’ which echoes a carefree summer with a nostalgic feel and dark undertone. The band filmed the video while touring in England and it hints at the forthcoming EP’s theme as a whole.
In the music video, lead singer Jill performs an array of contemporary style dance moves which reminds you of the expression 'dance like nobody’s watching'. Shots of a field of sunflowers illustrate happiness as well as a peaceful lake and mountains which represent a sense of tranquillity.
Vocalist Jill discusses the process of the forthcoming EP and musical direction, “I was struggling with a few things while trying to maintain an illusion of positivity and balance,” she explains. “The dichotomy of stability and disorder is present in ‘Waking Up’ as well as the remainder of the EP’s
songs, even if that wasn’t intentional when we wrote them.”
Summer festival season is in full swing and once the energy crew #Stormzy #Moshpit has come to an end, ‘Waking Up’ is destined to be a blissed out crowd pleaser. It's also perfect for a chilled vibe night in with a loved one or the girls.
The new EP 'Spaces' from Illyin Pipes is due to be released in August.
