David Bigney, Advocate for Rapper’s Rights Attends The Wu-Tang Residency in Las Vegas

David Bigney, Founder of Bigney Law Firm in Florida recently attended the sold out Wu-Tang residency in Las Vegas.  For Bigney, attending this residency was important to him not only for the experience, but to support the legendary Wu-Tang Clan for all of their contributions towards the music industry and society. As a devoted fan of the Hip-Hop culture, Bigney is passionate about being an advocate to help artists protect their rights. With an increase of prosecutors using song lyrics as evidence in a case, Bigney is proud to defend his clients that are accused of a crime when song lyrics are used in the wrong context.

Gaining the respect of the Hip-Hop community, Bigney has been invited to private studio sessions for various artists to better understand the creative process behind making hit records and was honored to be invited to a private session with the Wu-Tang Clan. Often times, song lyrics portray a story and may or may not have any relevancy to the artist’s life. Songwriters create catchy lyrics to make a statement, paint a picture, and release emotions to attract their audience.

For Bigney, watching members of the Wu-Tang Clan go through the creative process of selecting a beat and creating lyrics to match the melody of the song was an incredible experience. “It takes immense talent for an artist to listen to a beat and instantly create lyrics for the chorus and beyond. I was able to witness songwriting in real-time as these artists harmonized with one another and gave each other advice on how to bring out the best elements of the song” Bigney stated.

While song lyrics can be used as a form of evidence in a case, Bigney advocates for rappers to be mindful of song lyrics and their ability to persuade the jury. For Bigney, it is important for all evidence to be evaluated to determine the outcome of a case and this is why he is passionate about helping rappers overcome the unfair treatment and judgement due to song lyrics. As a former Assistant State Attorney (ASA), Bigney has a unique skillset to understand both sides of the courtroom and can often anticipate the prosecutor’s strategy for conviction.

As an Avvo top rated attorney, Bigney has earned his reputation as the Rapper’s Lawyer’ for being a true advocate for the Hip-Hop community as well as his success defending rappers overcome the scrutiny over song lyrics being used as evidence. Bigney has experience working on high-profile cases including the not guilty verdict for Jacksonville Rapper Spinabenz where the client’s rap lyrics and DNA were being used as evidence, having the charges dismissed against Rapper Rod Wave for alleged domestic violence, and attempted murder charges dropped against Rapper 9LokkNine that contribute towards his credibility within the Hip-Hop community.

For Bigney, attending the Wu-Tang residency and private studio session aligns with his respect for the Hip-Hop community and working hard to defend his clients for the best possible outcome and overturn any wrongful convictions. Bigney welcomes the opportunity to work with any artist seeking legal representation and is proud to have a trusted relationship within the Hip-Hop community.
