Artist Press Questions:

1. Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?
It has brought me here my fascination for art in general, the avant-garde, and music in
particular. I think is a mistake to consider the function of music is just to entertain or just
business and I think that in other artistic disciplines and in other historical contexts, such as the
plastic arts in some moments of the past, it has been clearer than it is today. The drive that
leads me to make music is to try to convey feelings, intuitions and sensations that go beyond
the everyday, that kind of expressions do not fit into a concept of music as limited as the one
that, as a society, we insist on have currently.
On the other hand, from a professional point of view, I have been working as a singer and
instrumentalist for different formations. All that experience has also led me here, since they
have made me develop and refine the techniques to exercise, in the best way I have could, this
artistic discipline.

2. Where are you from?
I’m Spanish. Although I have lived or are living in other cities, such as London, a city that I find
fascinating, I consider Seville is my city.

3. When did you start music?
I started very young. When I was a child, in my room there was an EKO Panda 49 electronic
organ and a Spanish guitar that had been given to my sisters and that they rarely used. At first
my contact with this discipline was a mere matter of space optimization…

4. How did you get into music?
I arrived first as a singer and instrumentalist but always with the idea of being a composer. It’s
great to play what others have created or in the same way, but I think music evolves because
the point of view of the creators changes along with the social and historical context. At time,
Buñuel told Dali that it did not make sense to want to paint like Velázquez in a world where
they traveled by plane, watched movies, communicated by phone, or psychoanalysis was
developed.

5. What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?
I’m not sure if this is what you are referring to, but life is what we have left between each of the
blows that we are inevitably going to experience. The hardest blows, such as the loss of loved
ones or illness, are never overcome, they are assimilated and one learns to continue living with
it. Sure it sounds corny, but the most challenging challenge is to be happy and many people who do not achieve relevant social achievements are. It makes me happy to be with the ones I
love and create music.

6. Are you currently signed or independent?
I work for the award-winning international New Yorker Label Bentley Records.

7. Who inspires you the most musically?
If you ask me about references or influences, the list is infinite because they are also not strictly
musical. I also have them in the plastic arts, literature, cinema, etc. I have references in a very
eclectic and disparate way. From the darkest and most magical part of Goya to the delicacy of
Satie, the psychedelia of Hendrix or Miles Davis to the rude complexity of Buñuel, the
abstraction of Hilma af Klint, the passion of Boudelaire, the innovation of Picasso or the
PjHarvey chutzpah. A thousand references for each nuance.
Although if we talk about inspiration in the strict sense, it is life itself and its most essential drives, that is, desire, fear, transcendence, love, pain, etc.

8. What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?
As a composer my obsession has been to transfer a state of perception with which I have been
in contact on a recurring basis throughout my life. A lysergic and transcendent one. I know this
will sound strange to most people but, as a synesthetic, I am convinced that I am able to
transfer this perceptual state when I observe that the composition generates an appropriate
color.

9. Any new music coming out soon?
It just released the album drEa. It just hit the top 8 on the Official iTunes Charts. I think it’s
better that I first clarify that my repertoire has three kinds of studio albums. The first kind, so to
speak, are the official line. For now neiaD, the first album, and drEa. On the other hand there
are the acoustic albums, for now ako and, soon alond with drEa, ust. They intend to emphasize
and focus on the melodic part of the project. And finally, the last kind of albums have an
experimental aesthetic line that moves away from rock. For now Daien and, on the way, a new
one which we will release with Bentley Records and which, like the theme azOx (Unosuno) from
the recently released album, drEa, based on a poem by the writer Any Aboglio, will revolve
around the theme of animal rights.

10. What is your greatest achievement as a musician?
The simplest thing would be to say, as I mentioned in the previous answer, that my music just
hit the top 8 on the Official iTunes Charts, which is, I think, an extraordinary achievement and
even more so when it comes to experimental music. But, really, I think that the most difficult thing has been trying to innovate in music despite the difficulty of being able to access some
media speaker in order to reach people. I suppose both things are, only that one happens as a
consequence of the other.

11. Do you produce your own music? If not who do you work with?
For me it is essential to be my own producer. For me, having a producer would be as if, as a
painter, someone chose the colors with which I have to paint.

12. Who is one artist you wish you could work with?
The list would be huge. For me it would be an honor to be able to work on a video clip, concert
or other kind of collaboration with a celebrity from any field. From Hildur Guðnadóttir, Michel
Gondry to Ana de Armas etc..

13. Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is coming out? What is it about?
As I commented before, it just released the fourth album of neiaD, drEa. This album continues
to evolve from the aesthetics proposed in the first of our albums, neiaD, which is, or at least is
what it tries to be, a synesthetic and eclectic fusion between ductility of contemporary plastic
arts, forcefulness of rock, sophistication of jazz, lysergy of psychedelics, elegance of
minimalism, depth of the avant-garde, emotionality of melodic music and actuality of electronic
music. On the way, as I also mentioned before, we will release a new one the with the awards
winning international New Yorker label Bentley Records and which will revolve around the
theme of animal rights.
As I told you before, I try to convey feelings, intuitions and sensations that go beyond the
everyday world. It’s not music for just entertaining or having a good time, although I hope it
does as well.

14. What does a day inside your shoes look like?
I don’t think I am someone especially exceptional on a day-to-day basis . In my spare time I like
to be with my partner, my family and/or my friends. I also like to read, to listen music, to travel,
etc.

15. Anything else you want the audience to know about you?
I prefer to put the focus on my work and not so much on myself. What I try to say to the
audience is: get in touch with my work, surely it will not leave you indifferent.
