“Black Heart” is one to listen to, literally. The artist pens his hardest bars of the entire project on this track. No hook – just straight rapping. TEZ STL shows his lyrical and storytelling capabilities, complimented with melodic adlibs to create a dope vibe.
- Slum Vibes
This Song is a true vibe, just like it was titled. This song was the intro and set the tone for the entire project. The artist shows his melodic vocals, over a jazz and blues styled instrumental. In this track, he gives a tribute to his city, and boast about being from the slums.
- YD&D
- Better Days
This one is a real vibe and is undeniably good! This track is his most inspirational and uplifting track on the project. This track is soulful, a reflection on tough times – and a call to God for Better Days. Everyone can relate to this track – It’s universal to all! The St. Louis artist shows off his impressive singing capabilities.
- No Laws
This track is a banger – the beat is too crazy! You can tell nobody other than 808 Mafia produced this track. This is the most lawless track on the project, which is probably why it was named “No Laws”. What I like most is that the song features a menacing, trap beat with a memphis sound. The artist rides this track with a slow, laid back flow that boasts about wild street stories.
From the catchy flows, melodic vocals, and raw lyrics, this project is a testament to TEZ STL’s versatile sound. The songs on the tracklist all flow right together making the project all together a no-skip classic. TEZ STL’s earlier released music proved he can rap, but Slum Baby proved he can create an in-depth body of work that takes you on a journey.
