Happy New Year! Time To Plan Your Road Trip For The Year

Well everyone, we have made it to 2017. Some say that 2016 was a bad year, but that doesn’t mean your 2017 can’t be amazing. Can we suggest that one way of making this year one of your best is through a beautiful Road trip?

Can we suggest a car?

When it comes to going on a road trip, films have taught us that you need the right car for the right group of people. We have four cars we can suggest you either get through car finance or maybe lease a car for cheaper payments. Either way, getting any of these cars would give you the chance to have one of the best road trips of your life, depending upon where you choose to go.

Audi Q7

For those of you with a bit more money and looking for a sharp design, plenty of space and a big engine, then check out the Audi Q7. This is the 7-seater, 4X4 offered by Audi, aiming to knock Land Rover off the top pedestal. It has a gorgeous interior, worthy of consideration, especially with regards to a road trip. The most powerful engine available under the bonnet is a 3-0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel engine throwing out 265 bhp. It has a top speed of 145 mph and accelerates from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds. There is plenty of space in the static seats for 5 six-foot adults. The additional two seats that rise electronically in the boot are best saved for children.

Volkswagen Tiguan

SUVs have become extremely popular in recent times and it is obvious to see why. They are big, spacious vehicles that are great both around the town and in the countryside. They can handle the motorway well and they look pretty good. The Volkswagen Tiguan is one such vehicle and it is excellent. It is much cheaper than the Audi Q7, but then it does only fit five people. In fact, it fits those 5 adults very well thanks to those back seats being on runners ensuring they can slide back an additional 170mm for extra legroom.

The truth is that diesel engines are the best choices for long distance road trips and therefore we suggest you get the 2.0-litre diesel offers in the Tiguan. It develops 148 bhp and produces a combined fuel economy of 59 mpg if you get the two-wheel edition. Choose the four-wheel edition and you get a combined fuel economy of 49 mpg, but you also get off-road driving too.

Ford Focus RS

Now if you are looking for a loud, powerful, fun car to drive that is also comfortable and supportive when driving and comes in a wicked blue, then look no further than the Ford Focus RS. Let us start with the engine. It comes with a four-cylinder 2.3-litre turbocharged engine, producing 345 bhp. That allows it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds making it one of the quickest hot hatchbacks on the road. It also has a top speed of 165 mph.

Inside you get RS-embossed sports seats that are both comfortable and supportive, especially in the corners. The best thing about this car is that it is insanely fun to drive. The way the speed and the power is smoothly put down on the road with the four-wheel drive system holding it firmly to the tarmac. If you do fancy having a little extra fun on your road trip, flip on the Drift mode and throw yourself around those corners (safely!).

Mazda MX-5

2017 could be a year of romance for you and you may wish to take your special person away with you on a glorious road trip (and maybe propose… just a suggestions). A two-seater sports car would be perfect and the only one ever worth considering is the Mazda MX-5. There are many rivals who try to knock the Mazda off the top spot, but this car is the definitive two-seater sports car. The best engine is the 2.0-litre engine that produces 160 bhp. It accelerates from 0-60 mph in 7.3 seconds and has a top speed of 133 mph. The dashboard inside is uncluttered and focused towards the driver. The rest of the interior is made from high-quality materials and is both comfortable and just a nice place to be.

Where do you go?

If you are bored of Britain’s overcrowded motorways and fancy somewhere more adventurous then we have a few suggestions for you. Now that you have a car, you have the chance!

The Military Road

For those wishing for a nice long weekend trip or simply a road trip close to home then consider for a moment The Military Road on the Isle of Wight. Its technical name is the A3055 and it travels from the east coast of the Isle to the west coast around the southern tip. As you take the road, on your left you will see the cliffs and the sea below stretching out to the white curve oat Freshwater Bay. It is only around 12 miles long and takes around 30 minutes each way to drive it. Whilst it might be short, it is well worth the drive.

Ring of Kerry

If you wish to travel slightly further afield, jump across to Ireland and explore the Ring of Kerry. It is the famous driving route encircling the Iveragh peninsula and shows off some of the most spectacular scenery you will ever see. Through the Killnarney National Park, you will see beautiful green uplands and the many lakes that dot around the landscape. The Ring gives you a choice on where to go next. You can visit historical Cahersiveen or carry on to Glenbeigh with its beautiful beach and seascapes of the Atlantic. The length of the Ring of Kerry is 110 miles and we suggest doing it over a long summers day so you get the best that the Ring has to offer.

Route One

So you may have seen Rogue One over the holiday, but you need to see Route One in Iceland also. Iceland has one of the most wonderful landscapes in the World. It is filled with volcanoes, lava fields, ash deserts, hot springs and waterfalls. The greatest road to take on an Icelandic road trip is Route one. It starts in Reykjavik and lasts for 800 miles. We recommend taking a week or more to complete it. This is the route to take your Volkswagen Tiguan or your Audi Q7 on and enjoy it.

Romantische Strasse

Germany is an amazing country, filled with history and sights truly beautiful to behold. It is one of the most perfect countries in the World to go to for a road trip. The Romantische Strasse takes you through the German states of Bavaria and Baden-Wurttemburg. Along its route you will find fairy-tale like castles and palaces and imposing walled towns and simply natural wonders. It begins in Wurzburg and ends in Fussen. It is close to 220 miles long and we suggest you break that up over a week or so. The sights to see along this road will ensure you have some wonderful memories for 2017.

2017 is the year to make memories that will last and be happy. We’ve suggested some great cars for you to get through car leasing. We have some brilliant locations for you to travel to on the road trip of your dreams.
