I personally used this helmet for a better half of a year and i could say that this helmet is damn impressive.

It has a premium feel to it & the helmet effortlessly fits the head.

The CL-17 is ‘Dot’ and ‘Snell’ certified helmet

(Don’t worry about the fancy terminologies. They are just helmet standards)

It weighs 5.4 pounds which is relatively really light. So you won’t feel caring a bulk of weight on your head.

The Ventilation system is superb. The air-flow system removes heat and humidity. Cleaning is easy and quick. The Crown and cheek pads are removable and easily washable.

For those who wear eye glasses, the Glasses grooves help accommodate riders.

Long Story Short – Excellent Helmet for any Rider.

The Premium : Shoei RF 1200

SHOEI is a Japanese high Quality manufacturer and the RF-1200 is the latest addition to the extremely popular RF series. It was announced in mid-October.

SHOEI is a Japanese high Quality manufacturer and the RF-1200 is the latest addition to the extremely popular RF series. It was announced in mid-October and gets 5 out 5 rating.

The parts and looks are just fabulous and classy.

The new Shoei RF-1200 is lighter than any other Snell certified helmet. The paint of the exterior is super high quality and reflects the light evenly.

Compact size gives a helmet reduced aerodynamic footprint which makes relatively stable and improves the overall feel of a helmet.

Also, the Design is Aerodynamic. It fits properly on head and with great ease and comfort. You could hardly feel that you’re protecting your head. The previous versions (RF 1000 &1100) were excellent but it is even slimmer than those guys.

Again the aerodynamic shape makes it Quiet and the Wind Noise low.

Interior linings are improved and with the new shield system the rider will experience an easy riding pleasure.

Shoei did a great job reducing the external size of the RF-1200 – Possibly the smallest helmet we have used yet.

Bottom line : Extremely Safe, Light and Solid as a Rock.

The Budget : Bell Qualifier

The feature I like the most is that even at higher speed, this helmet is fairly quiet. It is safe and comfortable.

It is made from polycarbonate therefore is it lightweight. The ventilation is adjustable to stay cool inside.

For those of you who want to wear a headphone or hands-free, these helmets have speaker pockets for you guys.

Bottom Line: A very good full face Helmet to buy. The helmet comes with a 5 year warranty.

Why Helmets are important?

Head injuries account for nearly 63% of all Motorcycle accidents, Helmets can help safe your skull, face and your life during a collision.

Helmets are designed to Smash and Shatter during an impact (the shell absorbs most of the energy during collision) to protect your head.

If you have an old or cracked helmet, it probably wise to buy a new one.

Wearing a helmet shows you are responsible and consider safety of yourself and others. Wear helmet every time you ride

What are the Safest Motorcycle Helmets?

There are couple of things you should consider for you Safety :

  1. You should see a DOT sticker on the helmet. Getting a DOT (Department of transportation) certified helmet should be your priority. Don’t buy a helmet if it is not certified by this standard.
  2. It is good to see a Snell (private firm) rating as well. However, this is entirely optional. Not Having a Snell Rating does not make a helmet less safe but DOT is a must. The purpose of both these standards is more or less same.
  3. The chin strap should be tightened so that only two fingers can fit between your chin and strap. Additionally the chin strap should be of good quality so it is dependable during an impact.
  4. Safety of your hearing is also considerable. Therefore a helmet that blocks out most of the wind noise should be preferred.

The above mentioned 3 helmets are considered to be few of the best safest helmets around the web.

What are some of the things you should consider before buying a helmet?

Here are some of the things listed that you may keep in mind before buying a motorcycle helmet

1. Safety

The very purpose of the helmet is to keep your head safe during an impact. You need to make sure that the helmet is at least DOT tested.

It would be better if it is also Snell tested as both these standards are the most recognized if we talk about helmet safety.  These two standards basically test factors such as Impact, retention and peripheral vision.

2. Comfort and Fit

You need to make sure that the helmet is really comfortable to wear and fits properly on your head. Most of the Top brands such as HJC, Shoei, Bell, and Aria do a pretty good job when it comes to the helmet fit and comfort.

Most of their helmets fit easily and without any discomfort to the head or other areas. So it is always advisable to only go for the reputable brands such as mentioned above.

3. Cost

However, expensive is not always better. Do not expect a helmet to be automatically better if it is relatively expensive.

Brands such as HJC are doing pretty good job of making helmets that are not only safe but also good in terms of look and feel.

4. Design

You may want to choose a design that goes with your personality. You will not only feel better wearing it but the helmet will also encourage you to wear it every time you go out.

Make sure that the helmet you choose is lightweight. If you want any graphics, you could always choose other color/graphic variation of the same helmet on Amazon.

Few of the Benefits of wearing a helmet

1. Cancels unnecessary wind noise

2. Help safe our eyes from sand and dust.

3. Helps keep water out in rain

4. Keeps our face warm in cold.

5. Shields our eyes from stones, gravel and bugs.

6. A helmet drastically reduces the severity of injuries.
