Michelin Primacy 3 Review

When you hear the name Michelin, what comes to mind is quality and high performance tyre. As a result of this reputation, the French tyre manufacturer has always ensured that the products and offerings are top-notch and of high quality for your car. This is exactly what the Michelin Primacy 3 does.

The Tire is a piece of original equipment in many vehicles such as sedans and some luxury coupes. It is also available as a replacement model.

Review of Features

The Primacy 3 uses a Smart tread Compound in conjunction with the new Michelin tread pattern to enhance the traction. It also allows the tire straddle the lines between rolling resistance and dry handling of the tire in dry and wet conditions. It does this by ensuring that the entire surface of the area of the tire is in contact with the road.

The tire also features anti-blocking sipes that increase its braking power and traction performance on wet roads. One of the reasons for the design and manufacture of the Michelin Primacy 3 is the need to provide excellent dry and wet braking power. And this purpose was achieved with the Primacy 3.

Wet Grip

Finally, the P3 was tested on many features and capabilities and it comes out with good results. Some of these tests include aquaplaning, which is also known as hydroplaning, braking tests, handling, and many others. While the tyre didn’t come out as the top performer, it wasn’t far behind the top performers in the test.

You will find the Primacy 3 in four different sizes, for your car, starting from the 16 inches size to the 19 inches size (more on that later). There is also a 35000-mile warranty which covers workmanship and materials for the warranty period.

Price Range

Based on the company’s website, the price of the tire is $194 dollars. However, you can purchase the tyre from different platforms around the world. These platforms offer discounts, rebates, coupon codes, and promo offers which may lead to a reduction in price.

Warranty

When you buy the Michelin P3, you get a 6-year warranty on the tyre. This also translates to a 35000-mile tread warranty. You can reduce the mileage on the tire by half if you size the rear tires differently from the front tires.

You also get a one-year tire uniformity guaranty. This means that the tread depth will be uniform for the first 2/32 inches of wear.

The warranty covers workmanship and materials for the 6-year period and this includes free replacement within the first year or for the first 2/32 inch of wear. However, after the first year, you get a prorated amount on repairs and replacement till the end of the warranty or till the last 2/32 inch of wear.

Other offers from Michelin include a 30-day customer satisfaction guarantee and a free 3-year flat tire changing service.

Summer Tires

The major downside of the Primacy 3 is the fact that it doesn’t absorb shocks and vibrations as most summer tires do. Therefore, this may lead to uncomfortable rides when you drive on rough or uneven roads.

This downside and many others are what Michelin corrected with the Primacy 4. You can read up our review on Primacy 4 here (insert a link to Michelin Primacy 4 review).

Apart from this, there is hardly anything you need from a passenger vehicle tire that you won’t get from the Michelin Primacy 3. Safety is one of the key requirements in a vehicle and the manufacturers of these tires ensure that they come with adequate braking. All thanks to its effective tread design and tread depth.

These two features also help with traction and road grip as the tires grip the road with ease and move seamlessly on road surfaces.

What impressed us is the fact that the Primacy 3 was designed as an entry-level tire model. And based on this model, Michelin did a very good job on the tire. Therefore, should you need an ideal passenger car tire with a reasonable price and the assurance of a leading tire brand, the Michelin Primacy 3 is a very good choice.
