Ford unveils new Fusion and F-150 Raptor in Toronto

Ford Canada President Dianne Craig poses with the new 2017 Ford Fusion.

Ford Canada always puts on a great presentation for the media at the Canadian International Auto Show with the most vehicles and largest exhibit of any manufacturer. This year Ford unveiled the new 2017 Fusion sedan and radical 2017 Raptor pickup truck.

Ford Canada President Dianne Craig opened the press conference with an overview of Ford’s successes in the past year. She expressed great pride in Ford maintaining their number one position as the best selling automotive brand in the Canada with segment leaders Mustang (sports car), Escape (compact SUV), Explorer (mid-size SUV) and the immortal F-150 as the best selling vehicle in Canada for the sixth year in a row and number one pickup truck for the 50th consecutive year.

Carrying on Henry Ford’s vision to make people’s lives better, Ford Canada also presented a video of their revolutionary Ford Pass app – available this spring. Ford Pass has four main components for user connectivity – marketplace, guides, appreciation (customer loyalty) and hub. Ford Pass will ensure Ford’s current and future position as a leader in mobile user connectivity.

Ford Canada VP of Marketing Jim Hartford unveils the new Fusion.

Ford Canada VP of Marketing Jim Hartford introduced two significant new models. The 2017 Ford Fusion is the smartest, fastest, broadest, most technology packed Fusion ever. The Fusion V6 Sport and new Fusion Platinum add to a line-up featuring three EcoBoost engine choices, along with Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi plug-in-hybrid.

To commemorate 50 years of the F-150 as Canada’s best selling pickup truck, Ford has released the 2017 F-150 Raptor SuperCrew. The Raptor adds agility, versatility and roominess to the toughest, smartest, most capable F-150 ever.

With all the excitement around media day, I caught up with Ford Canada Senior Community Manager Craig Silva to find out what the buzz is on social media. Silva commented that Ford owners and fans are very active on social media given their loyalty and enthusiasm for the oldest, most established global automaker.

“We’ve seen great reaction for the F-150 Raptor and I personally love it” commented Silva. “The Raptor is a purpose built off-road beast that really appeals to those who want the utmost in pickup truck utility with unparalleled performance and radical styling. It’s like an F-150 on steroids!”
