Jim Beaver’s “GAME ON” Blog – Segment 1

Introducing Jim Beaver in his new “game on” Blog Segment #1

Blog Credit: Jim Beaver – Down & Dirty Radio Show

Wow!  Well here is installment one of my new blog here on RigidLife.com.  I say wow, because I am finally here, on the blog, after 6 months of trying to carve out enough time to write a simple journal.  What should have been very easy, somehow just got hard to do.  That should tell you enough about my schedule, and enough about why this particular regular blog is going to be so much fun, for me at least.

So for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Jim Beaver.  I have been very fortunate to have been blessed with many opportunities to make a living at the things I enjoy.  As my friend Jason Ellis would put it, we have “No Job Jobs.”  That’s not to say I haven’t worked my ass of to get where I am and don’t work hard on a daily basis, it’s just saying that when you get paid to do what you love, it doesn’t seem like work.  My list of job titles includes Trophy Truck racer, RZR racer, I’ll drive just about anything racer, Radio/TV/Video host, announcer, emcee, and commentator for all things action motorsports.  I also host the syndicated Down & Dirty Radio Show weekly, and am a member of the Rigid Torture Team, hence the blog.

That being said, getting to where I am currently at has not been a cakewalk by any means.  I was fortunate enough to have a dad that raced off-road for over 30 years and a grandfather who is in the boat racing Hall of Fame, so that definitely helped groom me as a driver.  Neither ever had any corporate level sponsorship though, and neither was involved in the media.  Aside from a business and marketing degree which is totally not related to motorsports, I have been forced to find my way, make mistakes, and figure things out the hard way in regards to the racing and media business.  Let me tell you, it has been one heck of an up and down journey, but I am very excited to share it with you in this blog.  As we ramp this blog up in the coming weeks, and I get to share my experiences with you both on and off the track, and both on and off the camera and microphone, I want you to get one thing from it.  That thing is that we absolutely control our own destiny.  Doors open because you knock loud enough, not because you have to know the person behind the door.  The Ken Block’s, Jason Ellis’s, Brian Deegan’s, Vaughn Gittin’s, and Travis Pastrana’s of the world weren’t born into money, fame, or opportunity.  They fought tooth and nail to get where they are, built their brands from the ground up, and are now enjoying the successes of it.  If you truly want to succeed in whatever it is you want to do, don’t wait for opportunity, go and create your own opportunity.  In life you will fail more than you succeed, just make sure that when you do succeed the weight of them is far larger than the weight of the failures.

Just as I end every radio show, we’ll see you next time… Game On!
