Behind its Nissan grille, the new NV250 is essentially a badge-engineered version of the Renault Kangoo (which, incidentally, is also produced as the Mercedes-Benz Citan).
In L1 guise, the Panel Van variant combines an overall length of 4.28 metres (14’ 1”) with a payload of 650 kg (1,433 lbs). If greater capability is required, then the equivalent figures for the L2 model are 4.67 metres (15’ 4”) and 800 kg (1,763 lbs) respectively.
Two other configurations are being offered. They’re the fully-glazed, five-seat L1 Combi and the L2 Crew Cab. The latter has a maximum payload of 740 kg (1,631 lbs) and, thanks to a multi-position bulkhead, it can carry up to four people as well as some cargo.
Every NV250 is powered by a 1.5 litre turbo-diesel engine. Designed to comply with the latest Euro 6D-Temp emissions regulations, this four-cylinder unit is available with a choice of 79 bhp (59 kW / 80 PS), 88 bhp (70 kW / 95 PS) or 113 bhp (85 kW / 115 PS) outputs. Surprisingly, there’s no petrol alternative.
Deliveries are due to begin in September. Prices haven’t been announced yet, but Nissan has confirmed that the NV250 will benefit from a five year / 160,000 kilometres (99,419 miles) warranty. By comparison, Renault covers the Kangoo for three years / 100,000 miles (160,934 kilometres) and the Citan is guaranteed for three years with an unlimited mileage.
