After the terrible news of Anthoine Hubert death in a crash yesterday, the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps woke up this morning with an heavy heart and deep sadness. It was difficult to go back on track in these difficult circumstances but motorsport had to keep going and this Grand Prix was a tribute to Anthoine.

Charles Leclerc did a brilliant drive during the whole Race and won his first grand prix today, less than a second in front of Hamilton who put a lot of pressure on him in the last laps. The Monegasque driver dedicated his win to his friend Anthoine.

After a chaotic start, Max Verstappen retired early in lap 1 after having contact with Kimi Räikkönen at La Source. The steering wheel of the Dutch driver got damaged and he couldn’t rotate his car anymore, he crashed into the wall in front of his many Dutch fans that were here to support him. Alex Albon in the other Red Bull finished 5^th in a great performance for his Grand Prix debut in a Red Bull car. Sebastian Vettel had a difficult start, going off track at Turn 1 and got passed by Hamilton there, but he quickly recovered a few seconds later overtaking the British driver at Kemmel straight. Due to strategy and playing his team-mate role, he got overtaken by Hamilton again later in the race, Bottas did too. The two Mercedes drivers did get the second and third place on the podium, Hamilton in front of Bottas, Vettel did finish the race in 4^th position.

“Best of the rest” throughout the race, Lando Norris who would have finished in 5^th position encountered a mechanical failure in the last lap, and had to retire, it was a very frustrating race for him, he has been elected Driver of the Day. His team-mate Carlos Sainz didn’t get any luck either has he got a technical issue two laps into the race, he had to retire.

Racing Point did a great race with Pérez finishing 6^th and Stroll getting the last available point. The same goes for Toro Rosso with its two cars in the Top 10, Gasly finished in 9^th place for his Toro Rosso come-back. Nico Hülkenberg in his Renault got the 8^th place at the checkered flag, Ricciardo finished 14^th.
