Belgian Grand Prix 2019 – Overview

Formula 1 is back! After the usual summer break, and 12 races done, it’s time for the teams and drivers to get back to business at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend with 9 races remaining in the 2019 calendar.

With its length of 7.004km and its 19 turns, the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is one of the most incredible tracks in the world and there couldn’t be a better place to welcome the 13th round in the calendar to start the second part of the season at full throttle.

Spa and then Monza are supposed to give smiles to Ferrari as they are power-sensitive tracks with long straights and the team in red should perform very well there despite their lack of downforce. This weekend, it will be a year since Vettel’s last win in a Grand Prix and it would be the perfect time for him to get back to the top. Charles Leclerc could also give to the Scuderia their first win since last year’s US Grand Prix.

Still, with so much consistency and performance, we are wondering who will be able to take the fight to Mercedes in this second half of the season. At first, we would have thought about Ferrari, but it definitely doesn’t look like it since the beginning of the season. Instead, Red Bull is on a really good path, with two wins so far for Max Verstappen, they now seem to be the second force of this 2019 season.

We are waiting to see how Alex Albon will perform in Spa with his new team as he has been promoted to Red Bull Racing during the summer break, replacing Pierre Gasly who goes back to Toro Rosso. If it keeps going well for the Austrians, they should definitely overtake Ferrari in the Constructor Standings before the end of the year, Max Verstappen is already 3rd in the Driver Standings in front of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc.

Can Ferrari take its first win of the season on Sunday ? Answers incoming…
