The Ferrari 412 was the evolution of one of the most iconic front engined Ferrari cars ever made. When the Ferrari 365 GTC/4 (which has its name typical to the Ferrari nomenclature where 365cc per cylinder or 4.3-litre over 12 cylinders) was expected an updated, the gents at Maranello bored out the Colombo V12 a step further to make the Ferrari 400… and eventually the Ferrari 412. The 412 ran from 1985 to 1989 and when it ceased production, it had become Ferrari’s longest production series ever. The 412cc per cylinder increased the overall displacement of the V12 to 5.0-litres for the 576 examples that were ever made.
For electronic music aficionados, the Ferrari 412 would ring a bell when they recollect a black 1987 model that was used in Daft Punk’s 2006 film Electroma where the car appears from after the opening credits to where the robots have their human masks developed and fitted.
