1998 McLaren F1 ‘LM Specification’

The 1998 McLaren F1 ‘LM-Specification’ is the 63rd and penultimate road-specification example of the mythical McLaren supercar. This car that will go on sale with the launch of RM Sotheby’s private sales division, where this car would be their premiere offering. This new division will offer a more tailored, one-on-one approach to clients through each stage of a private sale, from analysis, to acquisition and deaccession of the cars.

The 1998 McLaren F1 ‘LM-Specification’ is one of the only two F1s upgraded by McLaren Special Operations with the LM-spec engine, the same engine as fitted in the limited edition, stripped-down F1 LMs. That means that without its racing restrictions, the engine puts out 670 horsepower (unrestricted) against the standard F1’s 627hp from its 6.1-litre BMW-made V12. It also has the ‘Extra High Downforce Package’, road-specification interior that features numerous upgrades including satellite navigation. This by far makes one of McLaren’s highly desired cars even more elusive and desirable by being a Le Mans specification McLaren F1 that is totally street-legal. Head over to RM Sotheby’s to know more about this car and their new private sales division.
