The sleepy end of Monterey Bay comes alive during the annual Pacific Grove Auto Rally, started in 1995. Like the Tour d’Elegance, it winds through parts of 17 Mile Drive and beyond. Like last year, I caught the rally just as it was about to leave the start line on Lighthouse Avenue. Two things drew me to return to this gathering, the first is the light at that time of day, diffused by mist and some cloud makes for incredible light.
