Italian legend, Andreucci to rally in Rally de Roma Capitale

A 13-time national champion in his own right, Andreucci has also conquered the international stage – notching up an impressive 10 ERC Rally victories over the course of his illustrious career.

Paolo is continuing his long-term partnership with MRF Tyres by contesting his home round next week alongside co-driver Rudy Briani. The duo will pilot a Renault Clio Rally3 in the ERC3 category, focusing on data and development work with the car and tyres on asphalt.

“I am happy to test this very interesting car, and to develop it with MRF Tyres,” Andreucci enthused. “The team will be Motorsport Italia and the first point will be to adapt the car settings to the tyres, given that this is our first experience, especially in these [hot] temperatures.

“Development will continue in the future too – let’s see if it’s possible to participate in other rallies since the ERC is a wonderful championship,” he added.

Team MRF Tyres currently leads the ERC Teams’ championship thanks to Mārtiņš Sesks’ back-to-back overall wins at both ORLEN Rally Poland and Tet Rally Liepāja. But the company is leaving no stone unturned across the support categories with both Andreucci and Northern Ireland’s Jon Armstrong – who made his top-level debut at round five in Sweden – driving MRF-shod ERC3 machinery in Rome.

“It’s good to have Paolo Andreucci and Rudy Briani in the ERC3 category,” team representative Vivek Ponnusamy said. “As part of our constant development of tyres, Rally di Roma Capitale is one of the events where we want to test our Rally3 tarmac tyres.

“We are looking forward to all the data collected and we have another test in few weeks’ time after Rome, so the data captured from the rally is very important.”

Andreucci has started Rally di Roma Capitale six times, achieving podium results on all but one occasion. A master of all surfaces, he also tops the Italian Gravel championship leader board halfway through the season.
