Top 4 Drivers of the Imola Grand Prix

Tags: race sport heart

First and foremost, let's give a second to remember Ayrton Senna. A legend gone far too soon who's impact still reverberates around the Sport. He's always in our hearts, and even moreso in our minds on a weekend like this.

That being said, let's get into it:

#4: Charles Leclerc

Sorry but I gotta take the time to recognize this man. Out of a whole season of woes and troubles, his car never fails to put him top of the midfield pack. It'd almost be easy to write off Vettel as a washed-up has-been. But we know he's not. Two years ago he was second in the championship, one wet day in German from a real title shot. As things stand in 2020 though, Tifosi fans will have the world to cheer for on Monday-Friday, and then an extended period of rest and relaxation from cheering the remainder of the week. Good on ya.

#3: Kimi Raikkonen

We love this guy. It's even better when there's a reason to love him. Following a tepid, slow start to the season for good old Alfa Romeo, this livery-leading team has make headways on track as well. Kimi's found somewhat of a patented style in recent months of starting from the back and surprising the field later. It couldn't come at a better time. We all need a little more Kimi in our lives.

#2: Daniel Ricciardo

Aw, well he's #1 in our hearts. Danny 'badger' Riccardo drove to yet another P3 Race after challenging the midfield for much of the race. As far as jolts to the system go, Cyril Abiteboul must be drowning in surprise. Following a dire 4 years of inconsistent results, a sense of job security must hit close to home for this team boss. His drive was superb. His shoey was even finer.

#1: Daniil Kvyat

It's an all-Danny front row as the Russian sensation slides into his first top four finish of the season (on both lists). Finishing above Pierre is enough, but to do it with a sizable points hall means a lot to AlphaTauri as well. He drove his socks off today (differently than Ricciardo), and that in itself deserves some surprising praise. For a man undoubtedly gone from the sport of Formula 1 in 2021, Daniil has finally given us a race to remember him by. No doubts in my mind he'll be flying after this sort of race.
