Ideal Driver Lineups for 2021

Mercedes:

#1 Driver: Lewis Hamilton
#2 Driver: Valterri Bottas

Mercedes AMG loves two things: Consistency and Lewis Hamilton. With this lineup they get both of this things. While drivers like Vettel or Alonso might be free on the market next year, Mercedes will want to steady the garage environment (look to 2016 to see how much that can effect team performance. Bottas provides that in the form of a stone faced-fin. Besides, even if they don't groom him into the #1 ace they all want him to eventually become, Renualt and Williams are doing the hard work of developing their younger Prospect for them to pluck away in a couple of seasons.

Scuderia Ferrari:

#1: Charles Leclerc
#2: Daniel Ricciardo

We promise we're not fan-servicing on this one. Ferrari could gain pace and consistency with the acquisition of Ricciardo in 2021. Some may say, well Vettel is a 4-time WDC and Ricciardo's just a rugby player with a funny mustache. While both of those things are true, at 31, Ricciardo still has some prime years left, and he proved to be able to best Vettel in a 1 on 1 in his time at Red Bull. Plus, with a car likely to still trail the Mercedes next year, Ferrari will need to prioritize consistency over outright pace to have any hope to snag the constructors world championships.

Red Bull Racing:

#1: Charles Pic
#2: Max Chilton.

So obviously this one is cle... Yeah, we can't even come to joke about this one. The driver lineup Red Bull currently holds is strong, and as much as I'd love to see Alonso, or Hulkenburg in this slot, they have it made with their current crop of long-term holds. (yes obviously verstappen is one of them) (albeit #2)

Renault (just kidding about that last line) F1 team

#1: Esteban Ocon
#2: Jack Aitken

Renault are not going to challenge for the title in 2021. I'm going to be clear about this because that obviously changes the way they approach the upcoming driver market. Assuming Ricciardo gone after a frankly horrid couple of years at Renault, the best they can do is search deep into their driver academy. Jack Aitken has flown through the ranks of junior formulas and finished 5th in their first ever run in the championship. That speaks to raw talent and adaptability valuable for a solid midfield performer.Additionally, bolstering their academy prospects will greatly lower their budget as they look to build a challenger for 2022 with the new regulations.

McLaren

#1: Carlos Sainz
#2: Lando Norris

The boys are back in town. Give them time and it will come. Go Mclaren 2021!

Racing India F1 Team

#1: Sergio Perez
#2: George Russell

We're going to go out on a limb on this one. Imagine Stroll switching teams to want to escape that is unlikely, but possible. Therefore the ideal man to fill the gap would be George Russell. The typically second shop stop for the Mercedes junior drivers, RP would be a great landing spot for the young upstart as he tries his best to find a car with 4 wheels on it for next season

AlphaTauri:

#1: Pierre Gasly
#2: Daniil Kyvat
#3: Juri Vips

Pretty self-expanatory on this one. The Red Bull Driver well has seemingly dried up for the moment, and there's no way to gain any credible driversd with enough superlicence points to replace these two. Gadly has shown incredible pace as a midfield-er, and Kyvat provides well needed cover in case Albon's caerer takes a turn for the worst. All in all, if their goal is points next season, Alpha Tauri are in a good place.

Sauber:

#1: Nico Hulkenburg
#2: Lance Stroll
#3: Mick Schumacher

The former Racing Point rivals have always excelled at two things: Money Maximizing and Driver Development. In this lineup, they get one of the two, but the potential for the second. The Ferrari pipeline, much like the Red Bull one, has dried up since producing some mind-shattering talent in the past few seasons (think Jules at Marussia, Checo at Sauber, or Charles ditto). Mouth-watering prospects that deserve a few seasons at a competent team before moving on. Sauber were one Kimi Raikkonen away from challenging Haas for a place near the back of the field. In truth, at this point,  they should be focusing on reclaiming assets and doing what they know so well; turning small amounts of cash into large amounts of pace.

Haas:

#1: Kevin Magnussen
#2: Nicolas Latifi

I want you to imagine a better available driver lineup than that for Haas. You probably can, but now imagine who'd want to drive this nonsense next year. Imagine what adding North American driver with the backing of Grosjean, and (hopefully) the lack of error magnetism would do for the brand. The main priority for C*nter Steiner and his gang is to convince Gene to stay in the sport. If we're being honest but optimistic, the best they can do is drop a young Canadian talent in the scar and hope he misses the obstacles in the pit-lane. I'd argue they should pickup another worthy talent like Shwartzman or Vips once they get licensed Haas has never been particularly interested in developing drivers, and hasn't shown the gumption to be the development team that some like Sauber have been

As a result, the stop gap duo of Latifi and Magnussen maximizes both experience and development cash as the look to fight for their lives in the sport.  Reducing the cost of two new drivers will help, and if they might be gone in two years, why not give it all now with this driver duo?

Williams:

#1: Stoffel Vandoorne
#2: Nyck de Vries

I recommend Williams go full Formula E for next season and refresh their driver lineup with two of the most overlooked talents in the sport from 2019. While the roster may be greener than the Flinstones car's emissions, De Vries comes with a vault of experience driving F2. This includes the world-round flights, engineer management, and familiarity with the track built up over an impressive repertoire of years. Stoffel, on the other hand, allows Williams some breathing room of experience. He proved his pace some years back, and without the pressure of a would-be 5-time world champion named Alonso next to him, he should be able to turn a head or two in the seat at Williams.
