Moto Guzzi MGR 1200 by Radical Guzzi

We rarely see custom Moto Guzzi’s burning up our social media feeds, but when we do they usually grab our attention.  They have a beautiful distinctive engine design, yet seem quite bulky looking in stock form.  Some of the top builders in the world take on a Guzzi and Stefano of Radical Guzzi is one of them.  Moto Guzzi’s are his preference when it comes to custom builds.  The Radical Guzzi MGR 1200 is a stunning example of the potential of these bikes.

The MGR 1200 is actually the result of a direct partnership with Moto Guzzi and Radical Guzzi.  Stefan Bronold and designer Kai Riemann knew they wanted to show off the Italian heritage of these Italy beauties.  With the power and technology of a modern superbike, yet still keeping the traditional Guzzi designs, the MGR 1200 was born.  Having what ever they wanted, the guys started with a Bellagio Frame and the full V-Twin drive train from a Stelvio.

Suspension was the next major performance component to tackle and it no surprise they went with Ohlins all around.  Up front are a set of Ohlins 43mm race USD forks and the in the resr a TTX shocks.  This combination offers the ultimate in performance and endless tuning options.  Whether you’re looking to rip up the pavement or drag a knee on the track, Ohlins offers ever spring combination available.  Attached to the front forks is a full set of Beringer Calipers and rotors to help this beast stop.

To further the performance upgrades on this bike, Stefano turned to the engine.  The Stelvio engine is a V-twin, 4 valve, 1151cc monster to begin with.  Combined with the Weber-Marelli electronic fuel injection and 50mm throttle bodies, it produces about 104 hp and 83 ft/lbs of torque.  To help the engine breathe even better, a custom set of aluminum intakes along with a huge stainless exhaust system were fabricated.  Guzzi engines are known for pulling like a freight train and I bet these upgrades increase that.

Now to keep with the classic styling of the Moto Guzzi heritage, Stefano went to work on the tank and tail section.  The sub-frame was completely redesigned to hold the new seat / tail section.  Designed completely from scratch, the tank flows seamlessly with the lines of the frame and tail section.  It knee indents allow the riders to tuck in behind the massive cylinders which I bet help with the aerodynamics.  Finally the tail section married up to a beautiful dark vintage leather seat.

The more and more you look at this thing, the more trick little bits you see.  On the controls are the Motogadget M-Grips, M-Blaze barend signals and M-Mirrors.  A 7″ LSL black headlight is used mounted to a set of aluminum fork brackets.  Rev-Tech custom CNC billet aluminum wheels were created to keep things thing on the pavement.  All in all this is one of our favorite Moto Guzzi builds.  I hope to see more of the Radical Guzzi MGR 1200’s built soon.  Be sure to go check out more of Radical Guzzi’s work on their website and following them on social media.
