How to Decrease 5-HT1A Receptors / How to Downregulate 5-HT1A Receptors (Includes Decreasing Sensitivity)

This Article aims to be a sort of opposite to the increasing 5-HT1A-Receptors article - as such, the reasons for Decreasing the density/concentration are very different than the reasons for increasing 1A-Receptors.

Whereas agonism of, and increasing the count of , 1A-receptors , is useful for Anxiety and, Depression in some cases, the antagonism and / or decreasing of receptor 1A can potentially improve cognition, and overall acquisition...it may also alleviate sexual side-effects of SSRI's.

  • T3 (Active Thyroid Hormone) (1) (2)
  • Free Testosterone/Brain Estrogen (3) (4) (5)

Factors that specifically INCREASE hypothalamus-5-HT release and 5-HT1A-hypothalamic receptors would be....  (ANTI-TARGETS)...

  • Melatonin (6) (7)

In order to downregulate these Receptors - we need to do two things.

  1. Increase Free Testosterone; lift weights, lose fat/gain muscle, use stuff like Tongkat Ali. Nettle HP Extract (8) (9) (10) (11) (12)...
  2. Use Forskolin + Olive Leaf Extract to boost T4/T3 thyroid hormone levels (13) (14)....

Finally, you can also use a modulatory-compound that specifically mimicks estrogen in discrete-regions of the hypothalamus - one that blocks excessive estrogen in the breasts/chest and prostate - but also selectively activates it where it would then influence the post-synaptic densities...in this case, I recommend PhytoSERMs.
