The end of August is the Ideal time to plan for the autumn/winter season. In an ideal world it would be great to spend these last few summer days out on the patio with the barbecue blazing. However, past experience tells us we’re more likely to be considering how early is too early to switch the heating back on!

Whatever the weather, it’s time to start considering your Wardrobe for the coming cooler season. A perfectly curated wardrobe takes careful consideration, and sitting down now to plan what you need will allow you to do this.

The first step here is to do a wardrobe audit. Take everything out of your wardrobe and drawers and sort through each piece. Ask yourself:

• Will it see you into the coming season and beyond? 
• Is it still your style?
• Does it still fit?
• Does it need to be cleaned or steamed?
• Are any repairs needed?

This exercise should serve two key purposes:

1. To give you a clear idea of what is in your wardrobe and where there might be gaps.
2. To set aside clothes that you don’t wear anymore because they need to be resized, repaired or rehomed.

The second stage of the planning exercise is to fill any gaps you identified in step one. This may involve ordering a new overcoat, a winter weight suit or perhaps even a waistcoat or two.
