The Best Style Tips for Men in Their 20s

When you’re in your 20s you should take risks, adventure and enjoy life as much as possible before settling down. Your twenties are a time for discovering yourself and coming into your own.  Whether you’re still in college, graduating or you’re hard at work, it should be a top priority to develop your Style to make a solid first impression on others in the world around you. Without delaying any further, let’s get you all dressed up to tackle the world in your 20s.

Fantastic Facial Hair

Throughout the ages, there have been different facial hair trends. From clean-shaven faces to handlebar mustaches. Let’s not forget about that whole 70s pornstar mustache scene.  When you’re in your 20s, it’s important to choose facial hair that matches your face, features and style. For example, if designer stubble doesn’t suit your face and makes you look too scruffy, then you probably don’t want to do that. Growing a beard is still very much a thing, but there are certain beards that require more grooming than others. Similar to the hair on your head, beards require an investment of time, love and regular grooming. Get yourself some beard oil to help with growth and maintenance. Also, not everyone is born with the gift of grooming their own beard, so make sure you ask your barber to give you a trim to shape that beard perfectly for you.

Trendy Is Tacky, Go for Timeless Style

Style and fashion are two different things; fashion changes with trends and style can be timeless when curated correctly. If you’re finding it difficult to get an idea of “timeless style”, then take a look at styles that have been in play for an entire century. Fitted suits in navy or charcoal grey with oxford shoes or brogues have been doing their thing for a hundred years.  It’s always best to avoid fast fashion and trends that often go tacky really quickly. Inexpensive clothing that’s mass-produced to appease the latest trends goes out of fashion very quickly and the fabrics used are often very low quality too. We recommend that you save your money and invest in garments and items that will last.

A Fresh Trim

Hair growth depends on a lot of factors and one of the major ones is a person’s testosterone levels. On average, a man’s hair grows around half an inch every month so that’s about 6 inches per year. In your 20s, you want to be looking as sharp and stylish as possible so it’s important to maintain the up-keep of your hair.  There are a few well-known classic hairstyles that are considered timeless. Speak to your barber to see what he recommends for your head shape and features. Classic cuts such as buzz cuts, side partings and slick backs are classic styles that work incredibly well.

Learn How to Save Money

When you’re in your 20s, saving money can get a little tough because you’re just finding your feet in the employment world and you love beer. Whether you’re focusing on your education or setting foot into full-time employment, saving money can be a valuable asset.  There are a few little tips and tricks that you can use to save money and still look amazing but you’ll need to exercise patience.  It’s a bit of a risk when trying to find premium suits and garments in thrift stores. Places like Goodwill may stock super cheap, high-end clothes but the downside is that there’s no guarantee the clothes will be at your local store.  Stores often offer sales and discounts on a regular basis, so it’s important to be patient and check out a store’s website regularly to if they have any good clearance items on offer.

Use Tech to Develop Yourself

Technology is a great tool if used efficiently to build your own character. That doesn’t mean endlessly browsing on the Instagram feed but using your phone to increase your skillset and cultivate your mindset.  That can actually be done – wild, right? Using apps like Audible to listen to audiobooks can really help to improve your vocabulary and give you a whole breadth of knowledge. What’s even better is that you’ll have answers for those pub quizzes or engaging topics to talk about on dates.  Calm is cool and it should be a big part of your style when you’re young and free in your 20s. The app called Headspace can help you meditate and improve your overall wellness. We highly recommend tuning into this app for tranquil vibes and a zen style.

Clip Your Nails

Research has shown that men with well-groomed nails are more likely to care about personal hygiene and that sends a strong message out to the world.  A small manicurist routine can absolutely rock your world with style and it’s simple to do.  Every few days, do a simple nail care routine of:

  • Clipping your nails and ensuring you don’t clip them too low
  • Use a file to smooth your nails out
  • Clean any debris or dirt out from under your nails
  • Buff out any cracks, bumps and damaged parts of your nails

Keep Your Tattoos Low-Key

We’re living in a day and age where tattoos are becoming widely accepted and it’s cool to have as many as possible. There was a common ideology that tattoos all over your body would hinder your ability to work in an office and damage any prospects because it looks unprofessional. Times are changing, however, it’s still important to note that tattoos with certain dressy garments and suits are still a big style no-no.  Important note: It all depends entirely on the placement of your tattoos.  When correctly placed, tattoos can enhance your casual style but with professional clothing and garments, they shouldn’t be fully visible. For example, a slither of a tattoo showing under your dress shirt cuff can help you convey a dominant aesthetic.
