5 Drinks You Need to Make This Cinco De Mayo

Tags: drink cinco beer

Cinco De Mayo isn’t exactly celebrated in Mexico as it is in the states. It’s mainly just another holiday we use to go out, Drink, eat and celebrate good times with friends. But who doesn’t love a good ol’ tipsy taco-filled time?

But this year, instead of going for the typical overly sweet typical margs, try some of these easy and more unique Mexican drinks that will blow your guests’ taste buds away.

Paloma

This drink is quite popular in Mexico and takes almost no time to prepare, along with ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. It’s made with tequila and (usually) grapefruit-flavored soda. To make it extra special, squeeze some fresh lime and add some salt to the rim of the glass.

Celebrate with this easy recipe.

Negra Modelo

This is for all the Beer drinkers out there. Negro Modelo is a rich, dark beer that’ll pair well with pretty much anything being served at a Cinco De Mayo party. If dark beers aren’t for you though, try Victoria for a more subtle and refreshing drink.

Here’s where you can find the classic Mexican beer (if you’re in the US).

Pulque

Okay, this isn’t a cocktail, but it’s mainly used a base for mixed drinks.  Pulque is an alcohol that’s made from fermenting agave. The result is a cream-colored hard liquor that has a bit of a thicker consistency. It’s an acquired taste for sure. But you can also add whatever fruit and spices you’d like to make with to make it flavored.

Here is a cocktail you can dare to try with pulque.

Gomichela

This fun cocktail is filled to the brim with Tajin, chamoy, gummies, and beer, this drink just screams Cinco De Mayo.

Here’s a recipe you can entertain your guests with.

Your Favorite Tequila Cocktail With Mezcal

We get it. You like what you like and sometimes you just want the familiar margarita. But try and spice it up a bit by replacing your tequila with Mezcal.  Think of it like tequila’s sophisticated cousin. The slight smokiness of the liquor adds a nice kick at the end that is sure to impress anyone who tries it.

Here is a recipe for a margarita you can make with Mezcal.

It’s a Real Fiesta Now

It’s always fun to branch out a bit and try some different drinks using more traditional ingredients on a day celebrating Mexican culture. We guarantee you’ll have the most memorable Cinco De Mayo with these options. Let us know in the comments if you’ve tried any of these recipes.
