When in Florence the one sculpture that tourists gravitate to is that of David by Michelaangelo.

This is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture created in marble between 1501 and 1504 by the Italian artist Michelangelo. David is a 5.17-metre marble statue of the Biblical figure David, a favoured subject in the art of Florence.

Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze

The original is in the museum next to the famous Duomo and I would recommend you book a ticket to see many of the original pieces that have been taken off the church of sculptures for preservation reasons.

The Galleria dell’Accademia di Firenze, or “Gallery of the Academy of Florence”, is an art museum in Florence, Italy. It is best known as the home of Michelangelo’s sculpture David.
