Aside from being one of the most anticipated releases/collections of the year, the Sacai x Nike Collection has also been one of the most confusing when it comes to actually releasing. That said, its looks like the sacai x Nike Collection has finally been given an official global release date.

Shown above, the sacai x Nike Collection will include a total of five different colorways of the sacai x Nike LDWaffle and two colorway of the sacai x Nike Blazer Mid. Both models were revealed at sacai’s SS19 runway show in Paris in June 2019. The sacai x Nike LDWaffle’s sleek style is a combination of the Waffle Daybreak and LDV Fusion, a high-end iteration on the sportswear giant’s signature sneakers. The style is also detailed with double Swoosh branding, double tongue tabs, double laces and a more pronounced sole to complete the style. The sacai x Nike Blazer Mid sports a multicolored theme, along with double padded tongues, double midsole mudguards, double shoelaces and double Swooshes on the sides.
Finally, after months of speculation and tantalizing closer looks, Nike and sacai‘s collaborative footwear is set to receive an official release. Both the LDV Waffle Daybreak — officially dubbed the LDWaffle Daybreak by Nike — and the Blazer Mid will drop this month.
After the shoes’ release date was unexpectedly delayed, sacai’s bespoke Nike footwear became one of the most sought-after silhouettes in recent memory.
The lucky few who snapped up the sneakers from sacai’s Paris pop-up and surprise website launch now seek four-figure values on the secondhand market, leaving few options for those trying to get their hands on the covetable, doubled-up silhouettes. Though it’s unlikely that the official release will be much less limited, it’s a welcome option for everyone who missed out the first time around.
Fashion designer Chitose Abe of sacai approaches collaborations with a distinct clarity: She looks to find a genuine connection that allows her to create something new and unexpected. Her design itself balances two ideas: stability and betrayal. Abe’s aim is to simultaneously give light to the familiar and the new.
She does this with the Nike x sacai LDWaffle and Blazer Mid, both of which debuted at sacai’s SS19 runway show in Paris in June 2019. For example, Abe employs her signature ethos on the Nike x sacai LDWaffle by pulling two heritage Nike silhouettes into a single hybrid form. The “betrayal” elements of this exercise include doubled elements, like the Swoosh and tongue, as well as elongated midsoles. Abe delivers “stability” through the familiar retro color scheme.
The Nike x sacai LDWaffle and Nike x sacai Blazer Mid release globally on May 16 and May 30, respectively, at select Nike retailers listed below.
