Let us tell you about our Nutritionist

Nutri-Viva: Onsite Nutritionist

I became interested in Nutrition sometime back when my own health was somewhat compromised by the fairly typical diet and lifestyle choices unfortunately so many young people make.

My problem was that I never understood (and many people don't) that what I was putting into my body was actually having a detrimental effect on my body.

You know things like, ongoing colds and flus, stomach compliants, headaches, migraines, fatigue, and just a general "blah"  feeling. Then one day, after having a few too many dizzy spells, I was told by a doctor I was prediabetic. WHAT?!?!?!

I was, I thought, of fairly normal weight for my height, young, in my prime (22 years of age) with gosh...my whole life ahead of me! So I began to investigate and read, any so my journey and interest into health bagan. Until one day I realised my passion of reading about nutrition and its positive effects on the body, and wow it just made SO much sense. So I began slowly working towards changing my career path so I could learn more about the science and biochemistry of the body and how food is so important.

I am passionate about sharing this knowledge now and helping people learn about how poor food choices can have the power to affect our health in bad ways but also has the ability to improve our health in positive ways.

Aside from being a busy mum and wife, I work here at NZ Health Food with the lovely ladies in the retail shop and love talking to all the different customers that come into the shop and help with them with their different needs.

I also run the NutriViva clinic from the NZ Health Food store one day a week (but am available over skype for those outside Christchurch). To me NutriViva means "nutrition for life and living". That is, good nutrition is for your life and will give you the ability to really live in the now with heaps of energy. My aim is to help you make sustainable - long term - changes so that you can reap the rewards now and later in life.

Some key areas I may be able to help in, include:

  • Allergy testing - Heavy mental testings
  • Hormone testings
  • Children's health
  • Skin disorders
  • Digestive disorders
  • Cardio metabolic health
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Holistic sports nutrition
