Interview with Cédric Masip, Ambassador of Recuperat-ion Sport.

Cédric Masip, runner, blogger and editor of the magazine Trail-Session, has just been added as a new member to the team of Recuperat-ion Sport. This native of Agen, France, tells us more about his love for trail running.

How did you discover Trail running?
Exactly one year ago, some friends of my athletic club convinced me to run the SaintéLyon. I tried it and I loved it.
Moreover, this year, I wanted to run the Saintexpress. It was for me a way to complete this first year of trail running.

What do you find so fascinating in this discipline? What do you think of this keen interest? How do you see your future?

What I immediately liked when comparing it to cycling and road running is not to have to Race against the clock. The trail is a comeback to the sources, the primary state of human being in contact with nature. It is a sport that offers infinite sensations. For example, during a race, I am very sensitive to smells. The craze for this sport does not surprise me; people are seduced by this comeback to nature. They need it. As for my part, I'm always happy to see how Trail running evolves. I just hope that the business side of trail running will not have a negative impact on it, especially with doping.

How´s the life of a trail runner in Paris?
The first shock for me was to leave my Southwest region in order to live in Paris with my girlfriend. Second, contrary to what some people may believe, there are many very good trail runners in the Paris region. There are some very specific training spots in the Fontainebleau forest, Meudon or Clamart. No problems for the fartlek sessions. On the other hand, professionally, it's interesting to be in Paris because the potential is here! There are many people who may be willing to discover trail running.

What is the race in which you dream of participating one day?
More than a race, I would return with pleasure in Bolivia to climb Mount Sajama until the third refuge. Then I will wait at the summit with the materiel. Otherwise, I hope one day to participate in the “Marathon des Sables” and the “Diagonale des Fous“. Next season, in any case, my intention is to enter three ultras abroad.

How do you manage your different responsibilities being a runner, a blogger, and editor in chief of the Trail-session magazine?
Fortunately, this month, I'm in recovery, so it is easier to manage. Otherwise, it is true that the organization is complicated. But I have made this choice and I do not regret it. I live for my passion, trying to separate and explain what are my different roles.

What´s curious is that I am passionate about trail running as it´s a race against yourself where the clock is not important. Now that I've converted it as my job, I spend my time racing against time to get organized!

You're an ambassador of Recuperat-ion Sport. What´s for you the main advantage of this product for trail runners?

Deep muscular hydration! I experienced it in the Africa Ultra Race, where I didn´t have any muscle cramps. I was able to go through all the stages without any problems.

Last book, last movie, last restaurant?
I recently read "The 4 Agreements Toltec" by Miguel Ruiz. It really made me think, especially as the book talks about being in harmony with nature.
The last restaurant ... I do not even remember! Not that I do not like going out, but lately I didn't have time.
Same goes for going to the cinema. However, a movie that I saw lately was Fight Club, I love it.
