Health Nuts Media releases “Huff & Puff: The Asthma App”

Huff & Puff: The Asthma App – “the world’s best asthma education app!” – released in free and premium versions for tablets and smart phones

Los Angeles, CA – May 21, 2013:

The second game, “Trigger Finger,” is a target game where players have to knock out the bad guys (asthma triggers) while keeping the good guys (healthy lungs) alive. In this fast-paced game, players first choose an “Asthma Outlaw” from among a particularly notorious bunch including Pollen Pete, Smokey Sadie, The Cockroach Kid, and more. Players are then presented with a single fact about asthma triggers before starting play. After completing a round, players can double their score by correctly answering a multiple choice question based upon the earlier asthma trigger fact.

HNM chose to tackle both Apple and Android markets with this first release. Versions are available for recent iPad and iPod/iPhone devices as well as Android tablets and smart phones running Android 3.0 and up. “We want to make our content as widely accessible as possible,” said Jones. “While many healthcare providers have adopted the use of iPads, consumers use many different devices. Having our content available in healthcare settings, but also available for continued use and learning beyond the health center walls – from people’s homes – was critically important for us. It’s the engagement, the willing repetition of concepts using fun that drives home the messages. We want people to be able to keep playing, and keep learning, long after they’ve left the healthcare setting. Thus, we felt we needed to deliver our app across a wide breadth of devices.”

Huff & Puff: The Asthma App uses a “freemium” model to help maximize distribution. The free version includes the first two episodes from the animated asthma series, the associated quizzes for those videos, and the first game, Tic-Tac-Blo. The premium version includes all content.

Plus, our next big push will be to enable connectivity of health providers with health consumers allowing them to track health literacy advances and push extra content to consumers to help bolster their health learning – and health outcomes!”
