CBD Oil may Help limit Anxiety and Cravings for Heroin Users

For many Americans, one of the biggest problems in the country isn’t so much in government. It’s in the streets, the cities, and the homes of America. The opioid crisis has gotten far out of control, and there appears to be little hope of a proper government-led solution being put in place. In spite of the issues holding back many people from making a clean break from their addiction, some have found some great alternatives for combatting, even killing off, cravings: CBD oil.

This powerful part of the cannabis or hemp plant has become a go-to choice in many medical backgrounds. For example, some use Cbd Oil as they wish to break free from the feelings of withdrawal, addiction, and pain that they feel. They need that ‘fix’; they need help with making sure they can get a good, full sleep at night. Without their hit, even going to sleep becomes very much a challenge. CBD oil, though, provides the medicinal benefits that they desire without any psychoactive effects. The ‘stoned’ part of cannabis comes from the THC count, and just about all CBD oils remove the THC entirely. As such, it can be taken without any ‘high’ effects being felt.

CBD oil has grown massively in popularity in recent years, with many people realising the immense potential of this ancient plant. It has now begun to show a genuine usage in the art of combatting heroin use, making it a good tool for those who wish to try and make a clean break from their heroin addiction. With the help of this, the challenge of reducing and even fully killing off the cravings is much more likely to take place.

CBD Oil: the secret solution to the opioid crisis?

While it will not work for everyone, CBD oil is becoming an essential part of self-medication and prevention for many addicts. It helps them to reduce their feelings of paranoia and anxiety, and helps to lessen their desire to take heroin. By reducing the cravings and the pain that they feel from withdrawal, CBD oil can help to make the days which are hardest for an addict a little easier to get through.

A new report in the American Journal of Psychiatry picked up some of the benefits of using CBD oil as an addiction combatant. In the new report, managed by Yasmin Hurd, the Director of the Addiction of Mount Sinai, there is plenty of helpful information. Hurd said in a statement about the study: “To address the critical need for new treatment options for the millions of people and families who are being devastated by this epidemic, we initiated a study to assess the potential of a nonintoxicating cannabinoid on craving and anxiety in heroin-addicted individuals,

“The specific effects of CBD on cue-induced drug craving and anxiety are particularly important in the development of addiction therapeutics because environmental cues are one of the strongest triggers for relapse and continued drug use.”

With the number of drug overdose deaths in 2017 alone beyond 70,000 – a record high, around 10% higher than 2016 – it is safe to say that people are going to have to start taking alternative treatments seriously. This has been a problem for the best part of a half-decade: life expectancy rates are dropping, such is the number of young deaths.

Without a proper treatment being provided by the state, tools like CBD oil could become the solution to combatting the crisis. Is it a perfect solution? No. Is it better than the present situation? Yes, very much so.
