The recent “Employee Mental Health and Wellbeing Checkup” Survey from July 2021 found that a majority of employees in the United States suffer symptoms consistent with anxiety, depression, or other mental distress. This survey identified that 37% of respondents were hiding symptoms consistent with mental distress. 2,141 individuals were evaluated, with a margin of error of 2.16%, based on a PHQ-4 survey to identify differing levels and categories of distress in addition to other questions about their mental health. The population was consistent with the US Census for age, gender, and geography.
