KNH Co-Enzyme Q10 complex

KNH Co-Enzyme Q10

Co-Enzyme Q10 is a substance normally synthesized by the body and is a key component in the production of mitochondrial ATP. Mitochondrial ATP is what all cells in the human body use for energy. Every cell in the human body contains a mitochondria, and its job is to produce ATP so that the cell has a steady flow of energy to carry out its vital functions. Muscle cells, skeletal and smooth, consume large amounts of ATP on a daily basis, giving our bodies the ability to walk about, digest food, contract the heart muscles, and all the other important tasks the muscles in our bodies perform every minute of every day.

Most healthy people produce enough Co-Enzyme Q10 to keep their bodies functioning properly. However there are a few reasons why a person may not produce enough Co-Enzyme Q10 and thus would benefit from supplementation.

The first of these reasons is taking a statin drug to lower cholesterol.  It is quite common these days for people to take a daily statin to help control blood cholesterol levels. But often people are unaware, and doctors fail to advise, that statins interfere with the body’s ability to synthesize Co-Enzyme Q10 naturally.

Over the course of many months to years, this can create a deficiency of Co-Enzyme Q10 in the blood and muscle tissues, and is thought to be the main contributor to Statin Induced Fatigue in many patients. People aged 70 years or older and taking statins are particularly susceptible to statin induced fatigue as shown in clinical trials.

In multiple clinical trials supplementation of Co-Enzyme Q10 has been show to support healthy blood flow and muscle contractibility.

Another reason a person may become deficient is due to the natural ageing process. Co-Enzyme Q10 production naturally decreases in the body as we age. One side effect of this reduction in Q10 is that the heart rate overall slows down. This in turn reduces our ability to send fresh blood and oxygen as efficiently to all the cells and tissues of the body, resulting in tiredness and general muscle fatigue.

Co-Enzyme Q10 supplementation in the elderly may help with age related muscle fatigue as well as congestive heart failure symptoms associated with poor blood flow due to weakened heart muscles.

Co-Enzyme Q10 can also be beneficial to athletes as well. Intense Athletic Training can cause deficiency of Co-Enzyme Q10. This is because as the muscles contract to keep up with the demand of aerobic cardiovascular or weight training, they suck up the supply of Q10 from the blood which can result in a deficiency while the body works hard to produce more.

In a clinical setting it has been demonstrated that athletes who supplement with Co-Enzyme Q10 have increased oxygen saturation and lower levels of fatigue post work out.

KNH Co-Enzyme Q10 is an advanced complex of Q10 150mg, flax oil, omega fish oil, evening primrose oil, and vitamin E. These ingredients work synergistically in the body to help support the natural absorption of Q10. Supplementation of Co-Enzyme Q10 should be considered for anyone taking a statin, over the age of 70, or anyone involved in intense athletic training. There is no documented side effects to supplementation of Co-Enzyme Q10, and there are many double blind clinical research trials that support its therapeutic effects.
