Isagenix NZ: Flushing Away Money With Fad Diets

What You Need To Know About Isagenix NZ And Weight Loss Fad Diets

It seems like every week we are bombarded with information about a new fad Diet such as isagenix or a nutritional break through. Often times these new diets and nutritional advice seem to contradict what we were being told just a few years earlier. This leaves many of us confused about what to believe is real and what might just be media hype. In this blog we will talk about fad dieting and whether or not it’s worth shelling out hundreds of dollars or if they are really just fads.

The first thing to remember when it comes to weight loss is that there simply is no magic bullet. It takes years to pack on the pounds and therefore will take quite some time to effectively lose the weight and keep it off.

The biggest problem many seem to experience when it comes to fad dieting is that the first month or two people do lose weight, but not long after they start to get lax with their routine and before they know it, the weight is back. Fad Diets are popular for a reason, because people lose weight in the beginning of the diet.

But unfortunately because fad diets are designed to be easy, the person is not required to make any long term major changes to their lifestyle and this is why they often slip back into their old ways and regain the weight.

What are some fad diet examples?

One example is the Lemon detox is a fad diet we have all heard of. Basically you cut out all food for a week and replace it with lemon water plus a few extras like maple syrup, cayenne pepper, etc…Starving yourself for a week is definitely going to shed a few pounds. However it may also make you sick, and it definitely is not a long term weight loss solution. Most people after a lemon detox gain all the weight back within a month.

Let’s look at another popular diet at the moment, Isagenix NZ. From first glance the products appear to be good. There aren’t any weird chemicals and it’s packed with good herbs. So what could be the problem? Well the problem isn’t necessarily with the products themselves, rather the problem lies with human nature and the habits we create for ourselves. With Isagenix NZ you replace 2 meals a day with their shakes and supplements and have one 500-600 calorie Meal a day.

In addition you have 1-2 “no food” cleanse days a week where you only take isagenix supplements and drink water. This lasts for 30 days. Essentially you are severely cutting your caloric intake and replacing your meals with herbs and vitamins. Ok, so again, if you starve yourself you will lose weight. It’s not rocket science. It also shouldn’t cost hundreds of dollars a month. But people pay because they think it is the answer to their weight problems.

But what happens after the 30 days? You can’t just keep on living off two shakes a day and 1 meal. You need to start learning portion control and basic nutritional concepts to continue to create daily meals plans to stick to your weight loss goals. Plus let’s not forget, you need to exercise!  Therein lies the problem. You have spent a couple hundred bucks.

Sure you lost some weight after a month of cutting your calories in half, but it’s been 30 days and now what do you do? What you need to do is to do what should have been done from the get go. Change your overall diet and life style. This obviously is not easy to do, but substantial weight loss takes a minimum of 1 year, so the more you learn about food, meal planning and exercise, the more successful you are going to be.

What do we suggest?

A much better way to invest your money would be to invest it into yourself. What do I mean? Invest the money into visits with a qualified nutritionist and begin to educate yourself on basic nutritional concepts and how to appropriately meal plan for your body type.

This is personalized information you will have for the rest of your life, not just 30 days. A good nutritionist will work with you and teach you how to meal plan and asses how many calories a day you need. We are all individuals with different levels of activity and different stressors.

There is no one size fits all. When you work with a nutritionist one on one you get individualized information tailored to you. How much protein should you consume? Are carbs ok, and if so which ones are good and which should you avoid? What about supplements?

Your nutritionist can help tell you where your money is best spent when it comes to supplements. For the same cost as 1 month of fad dieting you could have 3-4 personalized sessions with a qualified nutritionist and gain the tools you need to embark on your weight loss journey with confidence.  Losing weight and keeping it off is a lifelong commitment. The more personalized advice and education you have under your belt, the better your chances of success will be.

As I mentioned before, in addition to diet, exercise is a must if you are serious about weight loss. But just like nutritional information, knowing how to exercise to lose weight can be just as confusing. Spending an hour on the elliptical a day probably isn’t going to get you the results you want.

Combining cardio with strength training has been proven time and time again to be the best method for weight loss. The only problem is most of us don’t even know what strength training really means? And just like diet advice, there is an ocean of information out there on how best to exercise. It gets confusing to a person who is just getting started. This is why I recommend instead of spending those couple hundred bucks on a fad diet plan that will last you 1 month.

Spend that money more wisely on personal training sessions for a month, with a trainer specialized in strength training and weight loss. Not only will get the motivation you need to get started, but a trainer will teach you all sorts of exercises and how to properly use machines.

This is information that you can use later down the line to create your own work out plans once you are done with your paid sessions. Many people avoid the gym because they simply don’t know what they are supposed to be doing and they feel embarrassed. Working with a trainer will build your confidence.

You will learn proper form and how to do exercises that are right for your body. They can teach you how to design a work out plan and arm you with good information that you can use long after your have had your last session with them.

In conclusion

To tie it all up if you’re looking for a quick fix and a way to drain your wallet, fad diets are probably going to interest you. But if you're fed up with yo-yo weight loss and gain and you’re ready to regain control of your body and your health take my advice…..invest in yourself for the long term! Seek out a qualified nutritionist. Learn about food, meal planning and natural weight loss pills and supplements. Gain information you will use over a life time.

Not sure who to see? We have a qualified whole foods nutritionist here at New Zealand Health Food Co., Claudia. Make an appointment with her and take the first step. Next, get moving.  Invest in a months’ worth of personal training. Learn the proper skills to safely and effectively exercise to lose weight and keep it off.
