Microneedling with PRP.

What is it and why do I need it?

Microneedling
Microneedling is a safe, office based  procedure that allows us to take anti-aging therapy to the next level.  Simply, a series of tiny needles are used to painlessly pierce your skin.  The purpose of the needles is to reach the lower layer of your skin, the dermis.  It is in the dermis where collagen is made, the building block of your skin.  It is also in the dermis where the signs of aging and sun damage show up.  So being able to get to the dermis is critical to produce results.  Unfortunately many procedures that are offered do not reach the dermis and have limited effectiveness.
Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT)
The effect of the tiny needles entering the dermis is to cause small micro traumas.  Just like any other wound, these micro traumas stimulate the body’s repair mechanism.  As a result, new collagen formation is initiated.  When used for cosmetic purposes, microneedling stimulates collagen production for skin rejuvenation.
Microneedling Microchannels
A by-product of the microneedles piercing the skin is that they leave microchannels that lead to the dermis.  We can utilize these microchannels to infuse substances into the dermis to further enhance skin rejuvenation.
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
Our blood has cells called platelets that are involved in wound repair after injury.  They contain a host of growth factors that they release at injury sites to start repairs.  We can collect these cells from your blood (normal blood draw) and activate them to release these growth factors.  This part of your blood is called PRP.  We can use the growth factors in the PRP for cosmetic purposes to trigger your body’s repair mechanisms for skin rejuvenation.  PRP can also be used to improve fat transfer results and speed healing after laser resurfacing.
Microneedling and PRP
So we have these microneedles forming small channels to the dermis and inducing new collagen formation.  We also have PRP growth factors that can start tissue repair.  Why not combine them for even greater results?  Microneedling with PRP does just that.  After standard microneedling, your PRP is obtained and placed on those newly formed microchannels.  The PRP is drawn down to the dermis where it can further increase collagen production and skin rejuvenation.  This can all be done in-office using topical anesthesia.  It can be repeated every 4-6 weeks for even better results.  It can also be combined with Botox, Juvederm, laser resurfacing and Ultherapy for comprehensive rejuvenation.…
