When the smoke clears and the mirrors are smashed and swept away, what it will take to keep kratom legal is Courage, persistence, and the conviction that God (or Nature, if you'd prefer) gave us this unique plant and we have the right (and responsibility) to use it intelligently for our benefit.
It takes courage to stand up in the face of a lying FDA that is willing to do practically anything to protect the monopoly that was foolishly awarded to the pharmaceutical industry. It takes courage to sign the petitions of the American Kratom Association, which is leading this effort and has access to the resources needed to win this fight.
Without courage to do what is asked of us -- and the belief that success is possible -- nothing worthwhile can be accomplished. With courage and faith, possibilities open up and seeming miracles can occur. When we add action to courage and faith is when we see new possibilities that weren't apparent beforehand.
Fighting this battle for our rights is not a part-time job. Our power can be enhanced greatly by volunteers, but it's not wise to leave the leadership of this movement to those who have never led a major international campaign before.
The American Kratom Association is fortunate to have such leadership now.
Professional, trained, and experienced lobbyists are needed to do the behind-the-scenes work that can only be accomplished by those who know and have earned the trust of the players in each state where this battle is fought. Citizen volunteers can help tremendously to support the pro's, but -- to be confident of securing a win -- it takes professional help. They're expensive, but they get results.
The final step before we win on a national level is to help the average American see that we share a common struggle with seemingly unrelated groups. If kratom's use is banned, every other herb with proven medical uses is in danger of being next. The movement against GMO foods will be weakened. Homeopathy and other popular natural therapies will be attacked and forced by the FDA to justify their legitimacy at great expense.
To form these alliances we must be attractive in the way we present our cause to the citizens and legislators of our country: calm and rational, and confident in what we're asking for.
The key move we need to take next is to sign this petition, to show strong support or ending the FDA's campaign to ban this healthful herb. (U.S. citizens only, please.)
