Why are so many good people receiving death sentences from cancer? Cancer is not, historically speaking, a normal occurrence, so why is it so common now?
I think we need to consider all the exposures to the synthetic chemicals that are in our busy modern lives, especially through our food production. (There are also work-related exposures and environmental exposures to control, wherever possible.) It's difficult -- and many would rather not think about it -- but our healthy future depends on reducing our risks.
When I was in my teens and early twenties, I worked in agriculture, picking fruit and pruning the trees. I saw how many poisons were sprayed on our food and eventually soaked into the soil to be taken up by the roots. Washing your veggies and fruits are no defense. One farmer even wanted to spray us from a plane, while we were picking the crop! (I led a walk-out on that!)
This article shows the political shenanigans that are played in government-sponsored committees to allow poison known to be cancer-causing into our foods.
What's the answer? It's impossible to be perfect, but we need to do the best we can to eat organically-grown, non-GMO foods --and when they're not available eat as low on the food chain as possible -- a mostly plant-based, whole-foods (not refined, processed foods) diet.
