Bedwetting Underwear

Is there some type of underwear that helps children recognize when wetting happens? I think my son sleeps right through this and I don’t know how to help him.

When many people picture Underwear for bedwetting, they think of disposables, such as pull-ups or diapers. These help keep the bed dry but do nothing to help end bedwetting.

The type of underwear that I think of is a unique one, with moisture sensing sensors sewn into it. The sensor threads in the Rodger Wireless Bedwetting alarm send a signal to the receiver, plugged into the wall across the room. A loud sound alerts the child and parents that wetting is occurring. The child must get out of bed to turn off the alarm, and go to the bathroom while they are up.

This specialized bedwetting alarm underwear actually helps end bedwetting by speeding up the development of that necessary brain/bladder connection. Over time, the body begins to sense what it feels like when the bladder is full and holds it until the child is awake enough to walk to the bathroom.

This process takes time to develop, but in learning this behavior, permanent dryness can be achieved. Initially, most Children sleep through the loud sound, so a parent’s role is important. You must make sure your child gets up when the alarm sounds and walk him or her to the bathroom. Wetting can take place at any time in the sleep cycle. If it happens within the first few hours, many children are disoriented and have little memory of this in the morning. Learning can still take place. Over time, the wetting often happens later in the sleep cycle, when children can think about what to do next and handle things more independently.

This underwear is designed for children who are 5 and over. It comes in 8 different sizes, from Child Small to Adult XL. Each alarm includes 2 pair of specialized underwear, and more can be purchased separately if your child wets multiple times a night. Using a waterproof, washable pad on top of the sheet will make middle-of-the –night clean up much faster and decrease the amount of your daily laundry. The special underwear, along with the waterproof pad, can be machine washed and dried.
