Natural Anxiety Remedies

Your best natural Anxiety remedy is actually the program that I followed to eliminate my anxiety symptoms and panic attacks, which is The Linden Method.

However, I wanted to highlight some additional natural/herbal remedies mentioned in the materials, as well as some I’ve had success with myself.

The idea for this post came about from an email interaction I had this week with a reader and fellow anxiety fighter.  She was mentioning having trouble falling asleep/staying asleep.

Let me start by saying that as bad as my anxiety was, I did not want to start down the path to prescription drugs.  In general, drugs affect me much more than most people for whatever reason and usually any negative side effects far outweigh any short term benefits.

I am not a doctor and do not play one on TV.  Be sure to talk to your own doctor before taking any anxiety remedy, whether natural or not.  Anything I mention here is just for informational purposes, not a specific endorsement or recommendation.

When I started on the Linden Method, I was in the middle of a 2-3 week period where I was getting at most 3 hours of sleep a night and as a result, my symptoms were at their worst.  Some people can function on limited sleep, I am not one of those people.

I have a few general suggestions for helping with sleep, which come from my own personal experiences:

  • Avoid all caffeine – Seems obvious, but with so many folks used to their morning boost, this is still one worth mentioning.
  • Avoid alcohol – Alcohol disrupts normal sleeping patterns and just exacerbates the problem.
  • Drink lots of water – The more hydrated, the better, but to avoid having to use the restroom in the middle of the night, stop a few hours before bed.
  • For snacks, eat apples – I found that when anxiety was at it’s worst, I would lose my appetite, but still enjoyed apples.
  • Avoid laptops, cell phones and anything mentally stimulating up to 2 hours before bed.
  • Listen to relaxation MP3 files, such as the Beach Visualization MP3 provided in the materials, every night when in bed.

Chamomile

If you’ve tried all of those suggestions and still no luck, one commonly recommended herbal remedy is Chamomile.  It is very inexpensive and it is typically used in herbal teas, but that link is to the capsule version.  It has several 5 star reviews on Amazon from people saying that it works wonders for their anxiety induced sleep deprivation.

Valerian

Another possibility is Valerian.  Valerian “has a relaxing effect on the nervous system, promoting relaxation in individuals leading a hectic lifestyle.  Also helps support restful sleep.”

Seredyn

Seredyn was one product that I came across on my own, at the same time that I found the Linden Method.

The product claims to relieve anxiety, insomnia and panic attacks.  They also claim that 93% of anxiety sufferers reported that Seredyn effectively relieved feelings of a specific negative emotion and it takes effect in under 30 minutes for the vast majority of folks.

Again, it wasn’t something I planned to take for an extended period of time, but I felt that I needed something to try and break the every day cycle that I couldn’t seem to break otherwise.

Seredyn Product Description

“The natural ingredients in Seredyn affect the “circuits” in the brain responsible for mood, emotion and relaxation. By interacting with your brain’s emotional pathways, SEREDYN reduces anxiety and supports a calm and confident outlook.”

Seredyn Review

When my anxiety was at it’s worst, I just could not seem to break my constant, every day cycle of insomnia and constant anxiety symptoms.  I found the Linden Method and once I started reading the program materials I came across Seredyn and decided to give it a try.

I received the bottle about a week later and immediately popped 1 pill.  The dosage states you can take up to 3 at a time when you experience anxiety or panic attacks, with a maximum of 6 per day, but because of how medications effect me more than most, I decided 1 was good.

Within a matter of 15 minutes I started to experience a difference.  I remember it vividly, because it was the first ray of hope I had in a while.  It gave me a very mellow kind of feeling.  It wasn’t like I was all of a sudden cured of my anxiety from taking 1 pill, but it was enough of a difference in my mood and behavior to distract me and change my outlook.

That along with starting in on the Linden Method materials at that same time was a powerful combination for me.  For the first few days I took 1 pill each day when things were at their worst.  I think the most I took were 2 pills per day for 3-4 days and then after that I took 1 pill sporadically only on an as needed basic.  When I stopped taking them all together, I had 1/2 of the bottle still left.

I have seen reviews from some that say it doesn’t work for them, so your mileage may vary depending on how your body reacts to certain herbal supplements, but I could definitely notice a positive change in mood and overall outlook.

Since overcoming anxiety is all about breaking that routine and resetting your heightened level of anxiety and awareness back down to normal levels, I feel for me this was just one little piece of the puzzle, that did have a positive effect for me.

Thanks and as always, best wishes for continued success at eliminating your anxiety!

Conclusion

On this page I mentioned a few herbal remedies or supplements that might help you take the edge off and get a better nights sleep.  When it comes to anxiety and panic attacks, you know that every little bit helps.

When it comes to eliminating your anxiety and panic attacks, you definitely want a proven methodology that has helped thousands and thousands of other people, just like yourself, that needlessly suffer day in and day out.

For me, The Linden Method was the system that helped pull me out of the depths of despair and provided the first ray of hope in over 2 years.  I created this site to try and help others by highlighting what worked for me and I truly hope that it works for you as well!
