What matters to you(in care)?
June the 6th is What Matters To You-day. Goal is to focus on human aspects of care and learn from good case practices. At least the latter was a great idea from Zorgnet-Icuro. On the WMTY-website from Zorgnet care institutions can submit their initiatives. Also everybody in care can submit what matters to them on a poster. As I’ve done in this blog image.
Care is teamwork. It’s not the sole responsibility of governments, NGO’s, healthcare professionals, patients or families. Everybody has a pivotal role in order to achieve the best care. In order to achieve that, teamwork is key. The better the communication between all care participants, the better the outcomes for all will be.
Based upon that I have only one word to answer the question “What matters to you?”: Teamwork(Patients included)!
Writing on this subject I’d also like to thank all care professionals I’ve met throughout my life. Living more than 20 years with diabetes I’ve met a great deal of professionals. As a patient it’s often searching to find the right person to guide you in the disease process. Not every professional fits every patient and not every patient fits every professional.
I am incredibly critical ’cause I want to understand everything and have the best outputs. But don’t see it as a kind of “nasty” control…I am just willing to help as patient. Although my emotions sometimes take over my capabilities to communicate in a correct manner.
