The blog without added value

Probably you’ve read thousand of blogs and you’re wondering what the added value or special factor will be here. Let me state clearly, I have no clue either. The reason I start blogging is because I am every day again in touch with healthcare and its results. Healthcare is something that touches us all. We all want the best for our health and the people we love. Nevertheless as passionate I am about all my projects, see following alinea’s, it’s incredibly energy soaking to improve healthcare as a Patient advocate.
You’ll fall 100 times to raise once.

Yet it’s all worth it. Even if it was just for the messages I receive from patients who are able to get the treatment they need after a simple phone call of 5 minutes. That’s what I am doing it for. In following alinea’s I will share a bit more about myself  and my main goal with this blog. Take a cup of tea and enjoy the reading!

If I must describe myself with one phrase it’s: “Your tequila in a glass of water”. Nobody would add tequila to water but that’s the very reason I’d try it. And tequila is strong. My point of views too. I always like to test things out and don’t give a f* about what people think. People have an opinion anyway so in case I have to do something I better enjoy it.
Of course within an ethical acceptable framework…
So unexpected and bold, yet not unethical.
That leads to the name of this blog: Just Simply Put. I won’t sugar-coat my point of view.
I am straight forward. I say what I think.

When you don’t agree you can say so!

Ow, I almost forgot to tell you, I can’t sit still. No kidding. I always need to “work”. The reason I used those quotation marks is because the general person would consider it work but I see it as passion. I just love to help people and see projects grow.
When I got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetes for short, I had no clue it would become such important part of my life. Probably also due to the fact that I was only 2 years old. Diabetes led to frustrations, more than once.
Diabetes gave me an other perspective. Diabetes reinforced the importance of a positive mindset and gave me an amazing network of friends.
Those frustrations are what stimulates me every day again to spend time on those various projects rather than having some more drinks with my friends. My favourite subject to work on is patient empowerment, stressing on education. I firmly believe that empowered patients make a difference.

And that is also what I wish to do with this blog. By means of  information and personal experiences improving the care for all people living with diabetes. Care in its broadest meaning. Every person is different, every disease pattern in diabetes is different and thus I feel like the more we, the patients, share the more we can personalise care for people with diabetes. Diabetes is not supposed to be treated in one method, that would only decrease the quality of care.

Passionate about health, not only diabetes, I study health sciences so this blog is about more than only diabetes. It’s about thriving, with whatever challenge, rather than suffering.

Fellow friends and people living with diabetes: share your point of view so we can have discussions and work out a better care for people with diabetes!
Via the contact page you can drop a line.

I have no planning for this blog.
Don’t expect me to blog every week or something.
I will write when I feel it.
And as said, engage!

& my name is Margot Vanfleteren, just in case you were wondering!
