Do's and Don'ts When Creating Your Sign

Tags: business

Creating a memorable sign is essential for drawing new customers to your Business. If your sign is eye-catching and inviting, customers are more likely to come in and see what your business is all about. Use these creative tips to make sure that you are getting the most out of your business signage.

Do use a high-contrast design and back light your sign. You want visitors to be able to see what your business is about, even at night or if they are passing from a distance. Make sure your sign is readable from the street so that people who are looking for your business do not miss it.

Do not put too much on your sign. Make sure it is read and understood at a glance. If possible, include pictures. They are better than words at explaining what your business does.

Do pick your colors carefully. High-contrast colors are easy to see, and they jump out from their surroundings more. However, colors that are too bright can give customers a negative impression of your business.

Do not get to fancy with fonts. Swirling script may look pretty, but it is not ideal for signs. Pick a high-impact font that is unobtrusive yet easy to read.

After you install your new sign, view it from several different angles on the street to make sure that it is perfect. The ideal sign balances an attractive design with high visibility and a simple message that is read at a glance. There are a lot of factors to take into account, but the finished product is well worth it.
