Step Up Marketing Efforts with Floor Graphics

There’s a river of lava beneath your feet. Fortunately, instead of molten rock, this lava is comprised mostly of vinyl. It’s simply a promotion that leads to merchandise for this year’s big superhero, robot, beat-‘um-up extravaganza.

Or, maybe you follow a stream to the fly fishing section of the store. Or a yellow brick road leading to the ticket counter of a special Wizard of Oz screening.

Floor graphics can be exceptionally engaging and provide unique branding opportunities.

  • Promotions: Promote limited, in-store events in exciting, new ways
  • Events: Lead the way with directional signage, you can’t get lost when there’s arrows on the ground
  • Retail: Floor advertising can be an unexpected way to engage the consumer
  • Trade Shows: Reinforce your brand while attracting visitors into your booth
  • Museums: Complement or enhance the artwork and guide guests through the exhibit

Research has found that humans instinctively turn their attention to the floor (in what the researcher termed an ‘orienting reflex’) as opposed to something at or above eye level. This tendency is further encouraged when we observe something that may contain an informative or entertaining message.

Care and Maintenance

Good floor graphics are scratch and scuff resistant so that heavy traffic doesn’t ruin them. Still, most floor graphics are used for short-term promotions, approximately 30 days. However, with the right combination of materials, both indoor and outdoor floor graphics can be used for a longer time.

Floor graphics should also be able to stand up to common floor cleaning chemicals and methods. The adhesives used need to be strong enough to secure the floor graphics firmly in place but can be removed without leaving adhesive residue or damaging the floor.

With floor graphics, safety needs to be of utmost importance. Without proper precautions, a floor graphic could become slippery if it gets wet. This is the reason most floor graphics require lamination. A coefficient of friction (COF) test, which measures slip resistance, is required to ensure that the floor graphics are safe.

Indoor Graphics

Custom floor graphics can surprise potential buyers and grab their attention, which can provide critical decision-making input at an essential point in the buying process.

Custom floor decals can be used for special events. Imagine enhancing the dance floor with the bride and groom’s initials at their wedding, or adding your logo to the floor of a basketball tournament where every spectator can get a great and extended look at it.

Directional floor decals can help direct traffic for events or organize the flow of a busy office or warehouse.

Outdoor Graphics

Stronger adhesives are required to adhere outdoor graphics securely to irregular surfaces, such as pavement and sidewalks. These graphics must be thicker and stronger to withstand constant pedestrian and vehicle traffic in addition to changing weather conditions, including rain, sun, and snow. The graphics contain a UV barrier film to impede fading and a laminate to lessen wear and tear.

Temperature changes can also affect adhesion. Another reason a strong adhesive is used. However, the graphics must be removable without damaging the ground or leaving residue.

Delight and Surprise

The ROI of creative floor graphics is twofold: they delight and surprise consumers and boost knowledge and sales of your brand. To see how we can help you develop innovative floor graphics contact The Trade Group at 800-343-2005.
