Woot! – an Amazon company – announced on Friday that Prime members would enjoy free shipping on purchases from its daily deals site.
All that Amazon Prime members need to do is log in to their Amazon account by going to woot.com/prime, according to a press release from Woot!
Woot! was founded in 2004 and then it was acquired by Amazon in 2010 for $110 million.

Daily Deals Gimmick
During its heyday, Woot! became popular because of its “daily deals,” which resulted in huge sales and active engagement as well as traffic on its site.
Woot! is also known for its humor. In fact, the company says it is “the home of daily monkey chats, silly product write-ups, and time-wasting polls. We love a good joke as much as we love a great deal.”
After it was bought by Amazon, however, TechCrunch said Woot! “distanced itself” from the daily deals gimmick and went on to offer various special deals, including limited-time offers on computers, electronics, and home and sporting goods.
Another Venue to Give Prime Members Free Shipping Privilege
The online retail giant wants to use the daily deals site as another avenue to provide perks to Prime members, “given that roughly one-third of Woot!’s traffic comes from Amazon.com,” said TechCrunch.
TechCrunch also said it is not the first time Amazon has brought one of its subsidiaries into the Prime membership program, recalling that Amazon added free audiobooks and podcasts from Audible to its list of benefits for Prime members as well as various upgrades and special features for gamers via Twitch Prime.
