ForestTECH 2023 early-bird registration closes soon

On-site and virtual registrations to this year’s annual Foresttech 2023 event and the pre-conference and post-conference workshops continue to flow in. This year the show is scheduled to take place from November 14-15, 2023, New Zealand. The show will cater to forestry associates in Melbourne, Australia between November 21 and 22.  “At recent ForestTECH events, we’ve had record numbers of delegates watching the event live.” The Australasian event has been remotely streamed into 20 different countries. The ForestTECH community has grown and the event itself has now well and truly established itself on the international forestry calendar.

Tree seedlings grown at speed

For the first time in Australasia, a unique system of raising tree seedlings will be unveiled to the local forestry industry. Using the concept of vertical farming systems (growing crops in vertically stacked layers), Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) the team aim at looking to plant tens of millions of new trees in the coming years, have trialled a new nursery system that’s going to enable them to meet their ambitious planting targets.

Both conifers and broadleaved species using this vertical “growing machine” have shown this system can produce seedlings six times faster than open-grown stock. Both FLS and Intelligent Growth Solutions (IGS), the Edinburgh-based firm that has designed the system, will be presenting at ForestTECH 2023.
