Siempelkamp rejoices mega partnership with Vanachai Group

Recently a Siempelkamp system for OSB at Vanachai in Surat Thani / Thailand was accepted, which is a success story in several respects. On the one hand, it is the first OSB system in Southeast Asia, and on the other hand, the ContiRoll® with the dimensions 4 ‘x 48.7 meters is the longest 4’ ContiRoll® from Siempelkamp. In addition, this milestone stands for almost 40 years of business relationship between a visionary wood-based material producer and Siempelkamp.

The cooperation between the Vanachai Group and Siempelkamp started almost 40 years ago; The first one-day systems from Krefeld were installed at the Chachoengsao site in the early 1980s. In Surat Thani alone, six wood-based material plants for chip, MDF and now OSB cover all the performance facets with which a wood-based material manufacturer can convince in its markets. The Vanachai location in the south of Thailand is considered a megasite among the few plant locations of a similar size – the plate production in Surat Thani is around 2 million m³ per year.

The new OSB plant, which was commissioned by Siempelkamp in 2017, contributes 700 m³ per day to this overall performance at the location – that is, 210,000 m³ per year. The plant supplements Vanachai’s production spectrum with OSB and thus sets new benchmarks in the Southeast Asian wood-based materials market, which was dominated for a long time by chipboard and MDF systems. Vanachai, founded in 1943 as a sawmill, once again underlines his flair for trends and innovations in the wood-based materials industry. For the leading technology supplier Siempelkamp, the latest cooperation is another important reference in Southeast Asia due to the first industrial use of rubber tree in the production of OSB panels.

“With the new plant, we are setting ourselves ambitious goals for the wood-based panel production of the future. Our plates are produced very efficiently and according to strict sustainability criteria, our systems are state-of-the-art. In this respect, Siempelkamp, as a long-standing and innovative partner, is the right choice for an ambitious project like this, ”said Wanthana Jaroennawarat, CEO of Vanachai.

Marc Müller, Head of Commercial Sales at Siempelkamp, adds: “We are proud to use this system to play our part in such a forward-looking project by a visionary wood-based panel manufacturer!”
