Dublin Chosen for Destinations International’s First Global Leaders Forum

Destinations International (DI), the leading global resource for destination organizations and convention bureaus, is excited to announce the inaugural DI Global Leaders Forum. This groundbreaking event will take place in Dublin, Ireland, from February 11-13, 2025, marking the first time DI will host a global gathering outside North America. This historic forum signifies a new era of global engagement and leadership for the industry.

The forum will feature distinguished keynote speakers, including Greg Clark, CBE, FAcSS, a renowned urbanist and advisor on city development, and Adrian Cooper, CEO of Oxford Economics, a leader in global economic forecasting and analysis. Greg Clark will address the complex challenges facing destination leaders, such as the climate emergency, geopolitical shifts, and evolving global economic centers. His insights will emphasize the need for innovative place leadership and strategic navigation through these turbulent times.

Adrian Cooper will provide an in-depth analysis of global economic trends and their impact on the destination industry. With extensive experience in economic policy and forecasting, Cooper’s background with Oxford Economics and HM Treasury positions him uniquely to discuss the economic implications of recent global developments on destination marketing and management.

Don Welsh, President and CEO of Destinations International, emphasized the forum’s importance, stating, “As we face rapid technological advancement and shifting economic climates, bringing together the brightest minds in our industry is crucial. This forum will offer unparalleled insights from world-leading thinkers and create opportunities to share knowledge, drive our industry forward, and showcase the strength of our global network.” Welsh added, “Dublin’s vibrant blend of tradition and innovation, along with its role as a global connector, makes it the perfect location for our inaugural global forum.”

Paul Kelly, Chief Executive of Fáilte Ireland, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the event, highlighting Ireland’s role as a key player on the international stage and the importance of collaborative global engagement in tourism. The forum will also celebrate the growth of DI’s European Pathfinders Programme, which has been instrumental in identifying key issues and opportunities for destination organizations across Europe.
