As a Senior Technician (Part-Time) you will provide critical technical support on the Innovate funded project Quantum Electro-Optic Detector Technology (QuEOD) for single photon detectors at 1550nm under the direction of Professor John David. This project covers a range of characterisation topics on AlGaAsSb/InP and related semiconductor Materials and Devices. The project will utilise the well equipped laboratories comprising a number of material characterization systems and extensive device testing and fabrication facilities of a high standard for the advanced research of photodiodes.

You will join the research group located at the University’s North Campus and in the Portebello Centre, where all the research facilities for this project are located. As a Senior Technician on this project you will perform a wide range of measurements (optical, structural and electrical), on the wafers as grown by our academic and industrial partners, as well as periodically fabricating devices for this testing. The characterization facilities will need to be calibrated and maintained to ensure accurate data is obtained. The senior technician will report to the Sheffield PI on this project, Professor John David.
