Chelsea to make £15m from sell-on clause – despite star never playing for them

Tino Livramento never played for Chelsea’s first team, but he is set to earn them a pretty penny to bolster Mauricio Pochettino’s transfer budget by leaving Southampton for Newcastle

Chelsea are on the verge of a significant financial boost as one of their former academy graduates, Tino Livramento, is set to make a big-money move back to the Premier League.

The transfer is expected to earn Chelsea a cool £15 million, thanks to a clause inserted in Livramento’s original deal when he joined Southampton two years ago. The 20-year-old right back is poised to join Newcastle United after the Magpies agreed to a price of £35 million following weeks of negotiations.

Livramento’s Impending Transfer Marks another successful investment for Southampton, who initially signed him from Chelsea for £5 million. As part of the deal, Chelsea ensured they would receive 50 percent of any profit if Livramento was sold in the future.

With the agreed transfer fee, Chelsea stand to secure between £13 million and £15.5 million, depending on potential add-ons during his time at St James’ Park, reports the Mirror. Although Livramento suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury in April last year, he made a strong recovery and proved his fitness in the final two games of last season against Liverpool and Brighton as Southampton were relegated.
